  1. can you post a link of the sort of thing you mean?
  2. my experience of the oregon ripping chain was that it was a waste of time. it achieved a smoother cut but didn;t seem faster. i wouldn;t bother with it
  3. well i got, paint off tip straight away. i'll hammer it and report back.
  4. why is it better on left when high clipping then? i've just got used to having my strop in left to avoid the saw on right!
  5. i also have a husky 37 and 50 if anone need any bits/ saws for repair (37 was running, 50 has light siezed through air leak at carb boot)
  6. i have a husky 345 i'd swap for a block or portawrap or open to suggestions, also have a makita topper, ms170, 4x4 mud at and ht tyres. some old spikes which would be ok for a rescue set etc. open to suggestions, i already have a lass and 3 kids so will not be interested in swapping for those
  7. whats the difference between the 360 wes and 360 tes apart from the back handle? got a mate on the hunt for a carving saw and seen the wes is £275 which is cheap if its not a plastic home owner saw. thought this would be a good option for him if its as good was what people say of the 360tes. ta
  8. did you sand the burnt bits lots after or is that just the amount you burnt them?
  9. wow! i use a prussok full time! never bothered me at all! just the way i was taught, then it stuck. had a few goes on some fancy acender things and a bit with footclip/hand hold things and thought it was balls. whats the best thing to try instead then? i like being able to attach mid line, i like looking at it and trusting it/being able to see if its worn. i have a petzl grillion on a short line but never got to grips with it. open to improvements though!
  10. took about 3 and half weeks, including sourcing materials, removing all (nearly) sap wood, installing and oiling. it was for a mate so i charged £15 per hour and i got to do it in bits and bobs and work whatever hours, which worked will around work/projects. used his telehandler for shifting/making so costs were minimal - don't mind you asking at all pal - where else can we discuss stuff like this? thanks for the comments!
  11. oak giant lizaard, private commission, made from two sections of an oak what i dismantled! still need to get a shot of me riding it painted blue with a old fashioned stone spear.
  12. i'd like to make my sculptures come alive more, bit like [ame=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSuH9u0kvhU]this[/ame] and[ame=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uviXWkbn4E] this[/ame] i had a go with[ame=http://vimeo.com/102955817] one commission[/ame] but haven't had the chance to do more if i had to do something totally different i would run away with circus and learn flying trapese
  13. did you carve the whole neck/head then slice it up and thread it through?
  14. ace! how did you join the bits what move?
  15. i'd look at spark plug colour and see if its running too rich? is it smoking?
  16. def agree if you can get a dcs4301/ ps 420 for 260 then pounce, they are cracking first saws and lots more poke than equiv stihl/husky at that price
  17. i'll try swapping them then. thanks again for all the advice on this forum!
  18. it has more comp than a 345 i have in the shed which runs great!
  19. changed the carb for one i knows works fine. no joy. took flywheel off, all looks good, key is fine. could it be that slightly low compression is stopping it running altogether? my experience is that this only prevents it from running properly rather than at all?
  20. wow! would love all of it, but particulaly the turn table! not sure when i'll next be in surrey, might be a long time. are they eating any meat where they lay?
  21. arsed on for a bit today and got it to cough a few times but not run, so spark is sparking, i have just replaced the coil too so i know the ht lead is in good shape. guess i'll have to whip the carb off my running dcs5000 stick it on this one and that should give me an idea of what the fault is. thanks for the tips
  22. sounds whack to me! i prob bought your old knackered ones off ebay by the sounds of it!
  23. my other one is great! you might be right, but you know, you have to try these things yoursel. was that 3 new ones in 6 months or 3 second hand ones?
