  1. i think coils are hard to test. check the gap between the flywheel and coil (business card apart), you can also test the earth with a multimeter, i think from the coil to the machine (try switching the switch). can you borrow a known working coil from someone? check all your wires have no breaks or splits as the ht lead will earth out easily!
  2. fond of the 020's?
  3. yeah agree, think it looks nice with the light uncarved wood in centre. spot on
  4. great stuff, very enjoyable. did you switch to using a block when you were negative rigging?
  5. i reckon the jotul 602 is one of the best stoves i've ever used. heats up dead fast, chucks the heat out, well made, hot plate, nice old fashioned look, clean burn option, wood only, no fire bricks just replacable cast plates. well worth a look IMO
  6. just had a quick look, revving up to 13200-13400 - so reckon thats fine, could get the rev's to change by wrenching the handle about, but when the saw is hanging or tipped so the flywheel side is facing down the idle speed goes up to 3500 (from sitting at 2800). sounds to me like crank seal is on its way out?
  7. whats the best way to check crank seals? will a visual inspection of carb boot achieve anything?
  8. the Tes is £100 more than the Wes! please let me know how you get on with it on a 14'' thanks
  9. hi, noticed my 200 idling up and down a wee bit when dangling on a strop and occaisonally would cut out. it used to idle all day no bother. is the first thing to check the carb boot and fuel lines (for splits) or is there any other likely candidates. thanks
  10. any particular diameter/ type you would reccomend?
  11. do i have to have a cord with eyes or would that work with knots on a length of the right diameter prussuk cord? is it 10mm? 8mm? think i better give this hitch climber a go
  12. cos they are helpin you everytime you thrust
  13. nah you've persuaded me to at least look into it!
  14. can you post a link of the sort of thing you mean?
  15. my experience of the oregon ripping chain was that it was a waste of time. it achieved a smoother cut but didn;t seem faster. i wouldn;t bother with it
  16. well i got, paint off tip straight away. i'll hammer it and report back.
  17. why is it better on left when high clipping then? i've just got used to having my strop in left to avoid the saw on right!
  18. i also have a husky 37 and 50 if anone need any bits/ saws for repair (37 was running, 50 has light siezed through air leak at carb boot)
  19. i have a husky 345 i'd swap for a block or portawrap or open to suggestions, also have a makita topper, ms170, 4x4 mud at and ht tyres. some old spikes which would be ok for a rescue set etc. open to suggestions, i already have a lass and 3 kids so will not be interested in swapping for those
  20. whats the difference between the 360 wes and 360 tes apart from the back handle? got a mate on the hunt for a carving saw and seen the wes is £275 which is cheap if its not a plastic home owner saw. thought this would be a good option for him if its as good was what people say of the 360tes. ta
  21. did you sand the burnt bits lots after or is that just the amount you burnt them?
  22. wow! i use a prussok full time! never bothered me at all! just the way i was taught, then it stuck. had a few goes on some fancy acender things and a bit with footclip/hand hold things and thought it was balls. whats the best thing to try instead then? i like being able to attach mid line, i like looking at it and trusting it/being able to see if its worn. i have a petzl grillion on a short line but never got to grips with it. open to improvements though!
  23. took about 3 and half weeks, including sourcing materials, removing all (nearly) sap wood, installing and oiling. it was for a mate so i charged £15 per hour and i got to do it in bits and bobs and work whatever hours, which worked will around work/projects. used his telehandler for shifting/making so costs were minimal - don't mind you asking at all pal - where else can we discuss stuff like this? thanks for the comments!
  24. oak giant lizaard, private commission, made from two sections of an oak what i dismantled! still need to get a shot of me riding it painted blue with a old fashioned stone spear.
  25. i'd like to make my sculptures come alive more, bit like [ame=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSuH9u0kvhU]this[/ame] and[ame=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uviXWkbn4E] this[/ame] i had a go with[ame=http://vimeo.com/102955817] one commission[/ame] but haven't had the chance to do more if i had to do something totally different i would run away with circus and learn flying trapese
