  1. I can justify every move I make. Of course I don't take well to a fresh outta college kid telling me how tree work should be done. In any case, I'm not gonna be fodder for your devils advocacy.
  2. Perhaps, but unless he's a climber at a competent level he doesn't have the understanding to presume to tell me I'm working poorly.
  3. I've had college lads tell me how stuff should be done. Makes me want to floor them frankly.
  4. I would imagine as a new groundy that telling your boss how he should be working is a pretty bad habit...
  5. You don't need Cs41 to be competent at rigging, in the same way that having cs39 doesn't make you a decent climber. I got sent on my 41 a while back as a formality. I learnt virtually nothing I hadn't already figured out with experience or common sense.
  6. Yeah I lasted until 06:45 on the 1st... Trouble is I really enjoy smoking. It's a ritual with a morning coffee or glass of red wine.
  7. I've heard he waxes his chest, is this true?
  8. Just one I compiled on Jonesies. I'll itemise it later for you, or tomorrow. I'm going out for a beer, or three first.
  9. How cheap is cheap? I reckon you'd be looking at around 400+ for a basic kit!
  10. Small beech reduction from yesterday morning
  11. I read that first sentence a bit differently to how I imagine you meant it!
  12. Oh, and the rare occasion that my groundy hasn't had an Eighth for breakfast.
  13. Okay then: When I finish what I'm doing in the tree, come down, and the only thing left on the deck is a fresh coffee. When I can fell 6' lumps out instead of chogging/blocking Or just when the client has a really nice bum.
  14. S'alright, I found some. It was in my secret drawer with the furry handcuffs, and the napkin with your number on it...
  15. Balls, I've ran out of my e-juice!
  16. I'm in too. Ill be puffing on my ecig to my hearts content. Bring it on.
  17. I reckon there plenty of blokes in the same situation who won't even admit it to themselves. It's important to get a handle on it before it becomes a problem. I think part of it is subconscious. When a person drinks to excess most evenings they don't feel good about themselves, and don't have the motivation to get up and start fixing it. It's a perpetuating cycle. Glamping is a great idea. If you can provide heated huts/yurts you can bring people in all year round.
  18. More likely dripping from the sprocket cover, so store them recoil side down. Or just empty the oil tanks.
  19. Seems like the first thing to do is cut down on the booze mate. Not having a pop, I go through phases where I drink most night, and have to snap myself out of it. Not only will you be more motivated, more energetic, and more pleasant to be around, but if you're drinking the equivalent of say a bottle of wine/4pack of beer each evening that's almost £150 a month! A garden centre near me sells Swedish Candles for £15 each! Rather than rely on one way of earning you extra income, try lots. Advertise "collect your own firewood", domestic hedge trimming, etc. Best of luck.
  20. Not saying that it wasn't well executed, the bloke is obviously very talented. There seemed to be a lot more going on than there needed to be at some points though!
  21. It's a fun vid, for sure, but there was a lot going on that seemed over complicated. Tip tying limbs 80' up and pulling them over? Could have been butt rigged. What was with the crab and Munter hitch with the climber controlling a piece? Obviously I don't know the site, but it seems like someone was playing about!
  22. That's about the size of it. I don't reckon the thread was about the quality of work though, more the ability/methods of climbers.
  23. It's not all about money though, is it Andy ? We'd all be investment bankers otherwise. It's too easy in this job to get stuck in one mindset, bomb it out or go slow for the groundies etc. I get satisfaction from choosing the appropriate pace and killing it.
  24. I'm the most average climber out there.
