  1. If it is insulated, don't make the assumtion that the insulation will be intact. Treat it as live. By the look of that I'd say it's a shut down. I'd say you 'could' get over that line and work away on the other stem, but honestly, life is too short.
  2. Marcus, I presented them with Fr Jones's prices when buying my last set of hedge cutters. Thought I was having a laugh until I showed them the website. At that stage they were going for a meeting with stihl uk. I got no discount, but did get a bottle of stihl mix oil. Yippee!
  3. That some of the Cathcart's Marcus? I love asking them hard questions! Haha
  4. I'd say the 'Hardwood' fella smashed his computer up with a hammer! Entertaining!
  5. Bit of a head scratcher that one! Enjoyed that, looked like a challenging day out. Top job, keep the vids coming.
  6. Looks like it should work grand. I'd six wrap those prussiks though if it's heavy enough to need a 5:1 pull. Also prepare for using a lot of rope!
  7. Check out Sip Progress. Onto my third pair, following two pairs of stretch air. The seams were never good enough and the zips poor. The Sips imo, are cheaper and wear better. Just not quite as trendy!
  8. Nice work tree kid! Keep it up, as I'm sure u have noticed there are some shockingly poor reductions in our country. Those are first class!
  9. Breffni was it Steven hurt on the a1 last week? That's brutal if it was. Thoughts and prayers with Noel Steven and family.
  10. Can't believe no one has mentioned the joy of getting dog on the rungs of the ladders and getting it on your hands. Nothing better!
  11. Got an 02 transit tipper. 222000 now! I've done thirty thousand of those. Still serves me well, would like a lot more power in my next van. It's dead as hector!
  12. Love it! Some good replies to be fair about the cost of running a firm etc. The company mentioned on the second page (Theocus) are members on here. Wonder if they got a call asking for a price without seeing the tree. I love that myself.
  13. He is so pleased with himself at the end too! He was a lucky boy there, quite a few times.
  14. I was hoping to see a cobra or daytona in this thread! Even a modern mustang would have done. Wrong Shelby I see!
  15. I bet they feel just a teeny weeny bit silly now! Nice one boys! I wonder how they picked who had to ring the boss.
  16. I've had exactly the same problem with mine. The clutch (friction part) will be grand, the drive will have rung off the drum part of it. Easy fix but a little bit of stripping involved to get at it from memory.
  17. Super video! They definitely know what their up to! If only I had that digger set-up I'd never lift a log again.
  18. Hi Big T, lots of good advice here. I will be going three years in April on my own. My best advice is that when you do get work, you price it properly, not too high, not to low, and you finish it to the highest standard everytime! No dents in the grass or saw dust on the drive. It takes a while but work will really come in from word of mouth. I thought it would never happen, but. 90% of my work comes this way now. Good luck!
  19. Just had another go! Last chance to dance people. 45 min left. Major respect to all involved in organising and donating prizes.
  20. Cool, I like this comment. Laura McLay 'That tree has a face and a mangina. I thought he was putting pants on it to hide its modesty'
  21. I think it will be the crane companies and or drivers decision. Having said that, I've never done a crane job where I haven't been set in on the hook. If you are doing it, check carefully the hook for sharp edges before you tie onto it, seen those before too!
  22. Bet you like that stash of high quality firewood too! Happy new year men!
  23. Another proper job Max! Looks like a tight spot alright. Enjoying the pictures, keep them coming!
  24. More troublesome is Friday 13th coming up! Eek! Tie in twice, avoid ladders!
  25. Did none of them notice the crap union on that tree they rigged out of? Or could they not have let it run, or put a secondary pulley in at the tree he was cutting? They were lucky that didn't hit the boom of the cherry picker. So many ways that could have been prevented. Good vid anyhow, thanks for posting!
