  1. Your new avatar rocks! I think I like dogs more than humans...
  2. Get that last picture in the 'rate my hinge' thread. Looking good!
  3. Good post Dean. I'm in the process of buying new hedge cutters. Fr Jones has them for 409 inc vat. My dealer wanted closer to 500. Surely it's not a free market when aside from getting on a plane to get them I have to pay a higher price? As for ordering parts...don't talk to me!
  4. Was there not a test on these at a time that showed they were a bit risky alright? In one of the arb magazines I think.
  5. Did you get back cut in without hurting the fence? Looks like a wild awkward spot to get a saw in, never mind a nice even cut. Nice bit of rigging to lower the stem, did you pull it too? Looked like fun.
  6. I did this with a piece metal cable duct on a hire machine. Pushed the blade back and on the next turn the blade hit the anvil and broke the rear bearing. Think the repair price was similar to what I had on the job. Made me really happy. Not!
  7. Perfect Mark! Check out the tattoo thread Tom. All sort of this shenanagins going on. Not my thing at all personally.
  8. Happy days! Especially if you have had a few, then you can use the old ones as breakers. I have a few here similar to Trigger's brush and still fully operational.
  9. I used to 'hire' my chipper to friends and people I could trust. Nothing major ever happened, but I decided it was better to have it at home if I wasn't working with it. Unless you have a written contract for when they break it, it will only get complicated and relationships will become frayed. That and no one ever looks after a hire tool as of it is their own! Just my 2p, I may be wrong.
  10. Has to be 'Gladiator'. Epic. Hurt locker is a brillant watch too.
  11. Brilliant, really enjoyed that, nice rigging and making life easier! Skills!
  12. The crane company I use only allows the use of chains. Best to let them bring their own too and they can worry about their own certification on them. Slings would be so much nicer/easier, the chains are a total pain to try and balance limbs with and hard on the hands on a cold day! Come to think of it, i'd love a crane job to do! Boo hoo!
  13. I get a lot of satisfaction from doing a good job, but I've just seen so few trees and done so much heavy hedge bashing recently I'm really struggling to enjoy work at all. I don't know what else I'd do if I quit, nothing I can think of that I'd be as good at, or make as much doing. Roll on some big trees. Please! Before I jump!
  14. I like it! Good spot Gareth! If it's the one at holywood exchange it should say 'arse house' instead. Was unlucky enough to be getting a ton bag of sand there recently, only took and hour and a half.
  15. Your third man should be a security guard! So much shiny stuff, good work anyhow boys.
  16. Can a two man company do get AA approved now? I looked before and thought I was too small to do it. Nice plate on the disco!
  17. Very generous for essentially an inexperienced groundsman with a ticket. Let him go, I'd imagine there a plenty willing to work for much less, supply own ppe and no holidays! Someone needs to explain to these boyos that cs38 means nothing the first time your not just not going up and down with an instructor watching. Rant over!
  18. Check on pistonheads in the classifieds, parts or motorsport parts, pretty sure I've seen custom cover makers. Lovely machine by the way, looks much more in keeping with the van now. How much does that baby weigh and how many ponies has she?
  19. I'd be in your dad's boat. If the work tails off you will still be paying the installments, when it's bought and paid for at least it isn't draining you when not running. I suppose it also depends how big your outfit is, if you are in a commercial contract with guaranteed work you could finance based on the length of that. I know plenty of people that would go bang tomorrow if it wasn't for loans and finance. Nothing wrong with that, just not for me.
  20. Crane would have been lovely if your keeping or need to load the timber. Did the man from the cherry picker company like sawdust? Haha, God love him!
  21. Love a bit of heavy haulage! Imagine backing thon yoke in somewhere!
  22. That's stunning! I'm not surprised they were pleased!
  23. Washing up liquid and a good spoonful of sugar. Does a grand job. Will still take a healthy anmount of scrubbing!
  24. Just thought i'd leave a quick post to say thanks for the fantastic service. Ordered yesterday online at lunch and had it today. For an N Ireland postcode this is miraculous. Many thanks.
