  1. Thread derail! Did anyone ask for an arguement about tractor speed limits? No, it was fastrac vs unimog!
  2. it's all a bit like a wet dream! Lovely trailer but hard not to look at the fendt!
  3. As above! A lot cheaper than my previous insurer with additional cover, which was nice!
  4. I've seen it on before! Looks like a crocodile mouth thing, with the wee bar and chain spring mounted inside it. God knows how you sharpen it. The industry is doomed. Haha. Don't start me on the aaah bra either!
  5. 'Being able to understand what the climber wants or needs....' Perfect! Have a really good dragger at the mo, with tickets, but after six years together at a firm and six months out on my own with him, I still just treat everyday like his first! Always on time and a good worker, forget anything remotely technical tho!
  6. I'm no accountant but as far as I know, that is a capital expense (as in it will last a number of years and have a resale value) it will be written off at 20% of the value over five years or something similar. The hmrc website is a good place to search, I just finished my accounts, I feel your pain!
  7. Some seriously nice plant all round everyone. Mega tidy work too Eddie, seriously impressive.
  8. Is that Belfast's oldest beech tree? Hahaha. Love it. As it's council i'm guessing cctm will have this pr disaster to deal with. Wild craic!
  9. Quite literally living the dream! Awesome! Keep the updates coming.
  10. The one make my blood boil is 'oh you mean your a gardener'!
  11. If it was me I would have had a saw sitting running on half throttle all day, and done the work with silkys! A professional knows the right tool to use, surely you are still a skilled arb with a handsaw!
  12. I agree with codlasher wholeheartedly. Surely your getting paid for the skill in deciding which trees and branches to cut. How you do it is irrelevant. The arguements for silky or loppers are multiple, safer, neater wounds, less environmental impact etc etc. You should direct said employer in the direction of this thread!
  13. Alvin, looking a schliesing, don't think large does em. Oh and budget dictates second hand. Stu, it's a 200mx on their stocklist at the moment.
  14. As above really. Thinking of buying a chipper from these guys. Anyone any experiences, good or bad? I'm in NI so at a disadvantage of viewing things on the mainland easily. Many thanks.
  15. I'm guessing measure it and multiply it up, those bags all seem to be different sizes now.
  16. Fuel pipes were replaced at the dealers when the carb was cleaned. Sometimes, but not always they bog down when tilted with exhaust side of engine facing ground and carb facing up. The airfilter has been wet, though I haven't noticed it recently. Metering valve is set level with the top of the body of the carb. I'm glad it's not just me that can't work it out! Many thanks for the help so far.
  17. Morning gentlemen. My dad butchered an old plug and mod'd it to fit the comp gauge! Did a cold compression test this morning. On a single pull, with the carb removed I must add the machine is making 110-120-125 psi or there abouts each time. If I get a chance i'll stick them back together for a hot comparison. Just really need them fixed and reliable!
  18. No, the dealers ultra sonic'd the carb and cleaned the exhaust of carbon. They could get them to run fine under no load, they seem to behave a lot differently once under load and or being moved about through various angles as they do when cutting.
  19. Can't do, my compression tester is too large to seal on the tiny plug hole, it's really for car/motorbike application.
  20. Done everything but that, they always feel good to pull (not too scientific) and when exhaust and carb were off I could see no visible marking to the skirt of the piston or barrel. I'll go do a cold compression test!
  21. Help! Having been having desperate trouble with my Hs81 trimmers recently. Starting from cold (not always easily) they will run fine on full throttle, then once warm as soon as you lift off they fall into a weak idle and stall, being nearly impossible to start. Things I have done, ultrasonic carb clean in dealers, exhaust de coked, new diaghram kit, meter valve height checked, new plug, tried friends coil pack, tank breather replaced, tank filter replaced. Tonight I tried to pressurise the crank case through the inlet port, and squirted soapy water on seals and base gasket etc. No joy! They always stink of fuel and seem to be wet exhaust side. Should I go for a new carb, I'm all out of ideas! Thanks.
  22. A daughter of a good customer of mine owns a house in Edinburgh. She is looking a large ash in a residential area dismantled. I have told my customer that the cost of me getting there and back would be wild, (i'm in NI). SO, I'm looking e-mail adresses and contact details of anyone interested and I will put you in touch. Must be professional, insured and tidy. PM or reply here. Many thanks James.
  23. I want one! Not sure where i'd use it or what for but look at it. There is a fella local to me with one of these with the mowers on it, awesome plant!

    sip progress

Had two pair of stretch air years ago, don't wear anything else but these now. Very good I think.
  25. Bet ya they smell lovely too! Haha.
