  4. Thread re-awakening! Went and got hypnotised on Tuesday, was a 20 a day man plus a few 'special' cigs. Haha. Still thinking about smoking (a lot) but think i'm gonna do it this time. Always wanted to quit by the time i was 25, but will be 30 in four months so thought it was as good a time as any! Reading this thread definitely helped though. Everyone still managing it ok?
  5. Look's like Total Tree Care's yard to me. They are mega tho!
  6. Just a little post to thank Ady for the saw I recently bought. Absolute bargain of a ms660, in totally fantastic condition, and a true gentleman to deal with. Arb talk should be proud. Many thanks Adrian!
  7. I do some contract climbing over here and have my own insurance. In my belief it is the only proper manner to do it, unless your subbie is listed as an employee, which defeats the purpose me thinks!
  8. Sip progress here too, front protection only though. I tend not to use my saw behind my legs so it's grand. Lasting much better than my previous pair of stretch air, though not quite as posey!
  9. TOWNIES! These are the same people who think milk comes from tescow and not a cow!
  10. Permnament loctite works for me!
  11. 350 was my first saw, then I got very stihl! However, I recently treated the old girl to one of those pattern piston and pots. What a brilliant saw it is. Use it all the time again for snedding, so light and flies with a wee bar and chain.
  12. Hey guys, sorry to bring this up again, but does anyone know who the UK importer/distributor is, so I could have a chat about my dodgy sole? Sadly my haix are starting to disintegrate at the sole like everyone elses.
  13. Well, I had wondered why there was no packaging, but at the end of the day I bought it in good faith, and have no idea if it is stolen. However I think not, as they had a list of other bits and pieces too, some with packaging!
  14. No I got it, and i'm in NI so don't know them. Bargain me thinks. Yipee!
  15. I haven't needed to milk mine yet and was nearly off the end of it in a redwood on monday. My mate had his years ago and got it gunked up by sap in pines so i try to use it only with a cambium saver, as he never got it out and it left it hard and lumpy.
  16. Use 8mm OP on poision ivy with a hitch climber on a VT and it's brill! Go for the high vis version of the rope if you don't wanna cut it. The original is hard to see at times.

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.
If you're just starting out and you need business, equipment, tech or training support you're in the right place.  If you've done it, made it, got a van load of oily t-shirts and have decided to give something back by sharing your knowledge or wisdom,  then you're welcome too.
If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.
