  1. Anybody want a contact for a milling job in Sutton, Cambs. Couple of smallish cedar. Good access. They are happy to pay in excess of £600. I quoted then £635 plus travel but havent really got time to do it and it's not local. Let me know if interested
  2. I would be interested in the location too.
  3. Sell the slab for £150 or arse about for a day or more to make an extra £65. Although your prices are a bit low
  4. £150 Quality is low. First length looks good but log has been left too long for high quality boards. Large knots and twisted grain as it approaches the crown. This will likely cause excessive movement as they dry. Better to sell now why they look good than when they are bendy and twisted in a year.
  5. It's an old model and needs a good clean and service. Id day is worth £8k Id want 10k for mine but it's better nick with slabber and sider etc.
  6. Portek Maxi-2 Replacement Grinding Wheel (4.5mm) WWW.LAWNMOWERS-UK.CO.UK Portek Maxi-2 Replacement Grinding Wheel (4.5mm). Free UK mainland delivery* Buy now from Lawnmowers UK
  7. Also we were a couple of 3.5m beams short so if anyone on the bucks area has oak saw logs available let me know
  8. It's a bit of a hospital job with a friend. Will take a while. Been building them a house and now a garage for the last 5 years. House not totally finished either. Few pics of the house,
  9. Bit of milling oak over the last few days ready for the next stage on an oak framed garage.
  10. Going to be pedantic now but that is how expenses work. The mill hasn't paid for itself. Will anyways be an expense. You can't just write off the first 2 or 3 weeks work to pay for it. One day it will need replacing and be an expense again. So the cost is the purchase cost, plus any repairs etc, for the expected life divided by amount of days expected use. Travel to work needs to factor in vehicle costs and depriciation etc. The workshop only costs 3.50 per days milling of you mill in it every day of the month. Bet it will take at least an hour to deal with collection of that quantity of timber. Wether you are there or not its an hours work. Two orders, two customers to collect and load etc. Chainsaws for bucking etc. All accountable over a year of business. Maybe excluded from the odd days dealing but still there
  11. Purchase of a mill. Wear and tear. Dealing with either collection of delivery of timber. The business rates owed on your property for running that kind of business from it. Insurance. Probably think of more
  12. They're is a lot of costs you are omitting there Andy.
  13. £200 a day is not top dollar. Tree workers always under value them selves
  14. The problem I see with that is that you are not heating up the base stone very well. So heat retention may well be much shorter?
  15. Must be something to do with the way it was cut surely?
  16. The price under neath is to lift any cover and rebed/including adjust level. That's £15 Same amount of work as a new cover, possibly more. Can't believe any one would do that. Depending on the surrounding surface Material, I would be anywhere from £150 to who knows for that.
  17. Doesnt look that bad. Id buy it if it runs, not much more than the cost of a bar and chain these days.
  18. None in my local Tesco but Plenty elsewhere
  19. Not making headline news anymore but is still reported..... Old news as its stuff thats being dragging on for many yrs V an invasion thats only days old. Also the large scale of the conflict and the associated impacts on NATO europe UK etc So I don't think its that confusing, also no reporting or news channel is un-bais or agenda free etc. Headline news is a only a limited curated selection of what they think is most relevant. Just checked last US airstrike in Syria was 3 yrs ago? Of course I know that but people bleat on about helping people from Ukraine. People in Yemen been persecuted for years and nobody says a word. 2 us airstrikes in Somalia in last 3 days. Sorry getting my S's mixed up
  20. Always confuses me how we are so selective about the wars we talk about in the media etc. No one seems to care that in the last few days Saudi have put about 40 air strikes into Yemen Or Israel have air struck Damascus, Or the USA continue to air strike Syria. Edit Somalia sorry. When was the last time you saw any of these things in the news?
  21. I can't quite understand what you are saying here.
  22. Stihl are always better than husky.
