  1. Nicely done.
  2. Could be yes. But it's 5bskip. So it missed 5vpars of cutters then you get a pair. I would only use it in a chainsaw mill if you were using a very long bar.
  3. Any other interest?
  4. Hiv all. I have decided to bite the bullet and have imported a 100ft loop of 5 skip chain for lucas slabbing attachments. If anyone is interested in buying any loops considerably cheaper than available in the UK then give me a shout as I'm not sure I need it all. James
  5. Definitely not olive oil. Goes rancid.
  6. You can send to me if you want. James betteress at Google mail dot com. No spaces
  7. Got plenty of 25mm year old cedar. Where you based?
  8. Got a lucas slabber. Will cut 5ft+. Can travel to ipswich if my expenses are covered.
  9. [ATTACH]213365[/ATTACH Never braced it. Just kept the joints tight and timbers chunky. it hasn't sagged yet and it's 3 or 4 years old.
  10. Framed and ledged with loose tongues between the boards.
  11. No pics of the build sorry. Just went to the website that I bought the furniture from but it's gone so I guess they are no more. If you need some advice on how to make one then give me a shout and I'll takemail youb through the process.
  12. Last gate i made was oak. 1.9m high and 1.1m wide Chargeed £950.
  13. I use osmo top oil. Brilliant stuff.
  14. A month should get the surface dry enough for a rough sand. I would concentrate on getting your draw knife sharper and your technique down. You shouldn't really need to sand at all. Just make sure you work the grain in the right direction.

  16. This isn't strictly true. Softwood is strength graded by machine. Hardwood beams like oak are visually graded. I'm led to believe through previous discussions with Alec and my own research that there is no qualifications to do this grading. Specs for each grade of timber can be found and I am now grading my timber myself. If you look at the thread I will link to in the next post it shows me taking a tree purchased through arbtalk and using it as structural timbers in a barn conversion which the building inspector Is more than happy with. 17. I work for a guy that has one on a 6 tonne machine. He breaks down some massive logs with it and then puts through the processor. It works very well. Definitely leaves a messier log but does that really matter. Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app

    Dolmar

I'm in the market for a new saw and fancy trying a dolmar. Would be interested in a price for the 6100 on a 24" bar. Mostly needed for occasional use to work alongside my lucas mill. So open other suggestions of suitable saws with this bar length too. Cheers Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  19. They can come cheap at times. If those oak were near to me I would offer him £200 and try my luck. Is there no way of changing the design to shorten the rafters like the addition of a purlin. My experience of buying logs from woodyards is that you may need to arrange a meeting with the bank manager first. Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  20. Nice table. How did you attach the legs on it? Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  21. I see then now. The ones on the tailer. They look OK. I'd probably aim to pay between £200-300 foe them. There is probably about 80 to 90 hoppus in them at a guess so there probably worth 300 to 400 if you need them. Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  22. Can't see the ones on eBay. if you link to them I'll tell you what I think. Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  23. Depends on quality. Cheap would be £4 a hoppus in the round or £15 a cubic ft sawn and green. For structural grade timber you would be looking at paying more than this. Of course it all depends on where your buying it from. Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  24. Nice table Adam. Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  25. I've got one slab no one is getting. But I do have large walnut slabs available. Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
