  1. To add my 2p worth... Feel Awkward about this as I use my saws to chop logs for my own use and so consider myself a hobbyist compared to the hardcore arborists here. I always work on my own. I find others a distraction and an additional risk due to their unpredictable movements. Having a laugh is great but I find best done after the work is finished , or during a break. Not during as concentration wanders...accidents happen. BUT I work in the Railway environment and so am always working as part of a Team ( minimum 2) and find the PPE chat interesting. My job can be a bit PPE obsessed. Let alone rules/regs. PPE is good. It is NO safety net. Your safety net is following procedure and not taking excessive or unessesariry risks. Everything must be mitigated or don't do it! Hence when on my own working, my wife knows where I am and I ALWAYS have a phone or method of summoning help. Then a first aid kit, thermal (foil) blankets in the truck etc... No offence intended. These are my views / experience in my 30 odd years of work. Bob
  2. Sam, Nice and Tidy!
  3. They look like Vole holes. I had 3 things work. 1- My cats regularly bring bits of them in. 2- Mothballs - Small thing like the previous message. or 3- The Ultimate...??.. a few litres of unleaded poured down a few of the holes. Then a match. It looked like Kuwait for about 5 minutes. But they were put off for a very considerable time. Not very e-friendly but very e-ffective. Not something I'd do as a matter of course, but when you are desperate then desperate measures.. They only run a couple of inches under the surface and I found blocking the holes ineffective as there were just too many.
  4. Nice one. Going to give it a go. Thanks Bob
  5. Love it. More really useful stuff. My silly question is, how have you pegged that tyre down? I can see the small pieces of wood out of the base.... but I don't get it! Sorry.
  6. When I've had Cherry in the past. I've always kept the nice straight clean bits and sold them to wood-turners. They love it. As far as the burning...I have a stove and don't really get to appreciate any aroma's unless it's having it's final dry underneath. Very subtle smell. Bob-z-l
  7. So happy. I thought I was odd one out slogging away with my Axe. Really has made my day..... Cheers. Bob
  8. All I know is I helped a couple of mates take a largeish one out about 4 years ago. It made us all as sick as dogs. Mrs Googled it and found out it contains a "natural" form of Arsenic and it is easily absorbed in the spray (?) when sawn. Burnt alright. Always wear gloves when handling logs so I've had no further problems. Should mention that one is now no longer with us. That was Cancer, surely not related!!! Sorry, Bob
  9. PM Sent Bob
  10. Try: https://lowemissionzone.tfl.gov.uk/b/pb/lezComplianceProvideVRM.faces Put your REG number in... M25 isn't covered by LEZ. Problem starts when you leave it. MOST exits have a NON LEZ way out.... Bob
