1. Knowing the way my local Hardware superstore works.... The logs would arrive (bone dry) on a pallet and then be left outside uncovered. Then a week later when the promotion is due.....forklift them in to pride of place front and centre... Bingo :-)
2. Ditto..... I have a Jotul F100 and the sides get quite warm . Adds to the whole convection that it generates. The whole point I thought ....? Then, on the top I have a small mess tin with water (drop of Lavendar oil) to add a bit of moisture to the atmosphere if it gets a bit dry. Bob
3. Still Laughing... Now where do I get a Marmoset? and how do I train it? Is it ok to spank monkeys :-)
4. Cheers. I wouldn't be able to move anything that thick so I'm keeping everything sub 3" Bob
5. First apologies for the silly questions...new to milling. How thick are those slabs? Can you say why the word carvers would ant them so thick? Cheers Bob
6. Similar job for me. All day spent with the 660 and Rob's Chinese Mill (Cheers again Rob) on a 14' piece of Pop. Lovely planks coming off but bloody hard dusty hot work (last Sunday) Cheers to all for the motivation to get into my new favourite hobby. Bob

8. very interesting, but I work that as being 5ft dia. I'm fresh into milling and can only cope with 30" tops otherwise I'd love a crack.. Bob
9. Many Thanks. Thats a lot of reading. Greatly appreciated. Bob
10. Got it... Many thanks Bob
11. Hi Millers, Barring read through the many threads on here from other newbies. Does anyone know if there is a nice "download" - able PDF or something that I might print and take out to the shed with me? Cheers Bob
12. I have a Hultafors Craftsmans knife. V Similar and sub £5 if you look around. Lovely and sharp, keeps an edge well. Smashing. Bob

14. Cheers Rob you are a star! Got mine yesterday. It's brilliant and I'm looking forward to my first milling experience. I'll be coming back for an Alaskan if it works out as well as I hope. Thanks again. Bob
15. Hi Dave, I sent you a pm. Hoping I can get a couple of smaller loads. Ta Bob
16. I was much the same....I thought bat first then they started chattering/screeching. I only posted as I wasn't sure if I was imagining it.
17. Last night out the back of the house......that familiiar screeching. They are back... Anyone else? Bob
18. Here , here. Or is this worth raising with Steve as a Forum improvment. To have an "inappropriate" flag on a message. If enough members "veto'd" the post it would/could be deleted?
19. Hi Steve, Many thanks.
20. Hi, When I click on my "ID" on the top right of the webpage it takes me off to a Random Members profile page... I can't currently attach the screen grab. Has anyone else got this? I can't modify my profile without the page. Bob **Edit** When I click on my ID on the post it takes me to the same random page.
21. Ok. My collection isn't huge but I do love my Danarm.... 1955 Mk3 Almost at the stage where it'll run.... Bob
22. I saw the Swedish Candle stool link and know what I'll be experimenting with in the next few weeks.... :-)
23. I have a similar construction..... I stack everything I can. Yes it does take a little longer. Very calming and theraputic....Plus I find I can get loads more in the shed than when it's loose. Saying that, I do have a few bags on pallets for the stuff thats just to gnarly to stack. Bob
24. Yes it looks fast....but is that not a problem? Accidents where things get trapped are dealt with faster? My hydraulic might not be fast, but I have the chance to back it out if things look shaky...this has only one mode. Smash Sorry, not for me. If I want fast I'll go back to the reliable X27 Bob
