  1. Hope they get grassed up!
  2. Was going to say exact same. My ankle was was a pylon fracture. Multiple breaks. Treehogs are comfy to walk/work in all day. Maybe a heel insert.... I'd considered it, but my heel isn't bad, my under foot is. Tendon inflamed and sore when I've tried insoles. 3. Dag-nabbit....I must be doing it wrong then. I always change drive sprockets between 3/8LP and 3/8 as I thought they were slightly different. Re: difference... I would imagine wider kerf on 3/8 will mean greater load on saw an so you'll get a slower cut, more fuel. Hopefully @Rough Hewn or @Rob D will be along to give the fully qualified and correct answer.
  4. Defo looks "used". Not Ex-Demo is it?
  5. I get you. I need 3 kidneys...sold one to afford the 881. I'll need another for the super big panther. Food for thought. Thanks for your insight. As always, greatly appreciated. Bob
  6. Not sure what you mean...an 881 would be a major upgrade for me. I don't want to side line the 660 but want to reuse/ share bars/chains and mill between the two head units. I've stretched my savings and am read to commit to a 881. Please forgive the simple way I look at things as this is a hobby/part time thing for me. Spending $$ on an 881 is significant outlay and I was trying to make use if what I had kicking around bar/chain wise.
  7. Sorry, No I didn't realise the mounts were that different. I was hoping to bolt my Panther and 42" GB straight on. Dag Nabbit.
  8. Thanks @Rough Hewn
  9. As above, thinking about a 881 and whether this will mean I need to spend more.... Are the 3/8 and 3/8 low pro sprockets a straight swap onto the New 881 rim drive? Or will I need to buying new? Bob
  10. Seems petrol stations have their own rules dependant on their own risk assessments. There are also a load of regs about storage at home and workplace. 12. Looks like one of these. 14~36" Adjustable Chainsaw Mill Saw Milling Attachment Cuttering Planking Lumber WWW.EBAY.CO.UK 1 x Portable Chainsaw Mill Planking Milling 14"-36". Can cut any length of plank and converts rough logs into beautiful... As @Rough Hewn said in an earlier response. Often referred to as Chilaskan Chinese copy of Granberg Alaskan. I had one on my 660. 36" bar and ripping chain from www.chainsawbars gave a28/30" cut. Not as good as the Panther mill from Chainsawbars but a fraction of the price and quality.
  13. That's a telephone pole....first touch with my Fiskars ands it's matchwood. :-) I don't split on the ground as I was taught to chop on a block (By Scouts USA). Plus it get me when you hit them on the ground some effort is lost/ absorbed by the ground. On the right height block the mass of the block is an Anvil to the Axe's hammer.
  14. Yes. Larger lumps split in a fashion....twisty as @Stubby says. Most of it split with the X27. Then I cut them with the saw. Lots of noodles but made for easier stacking. Seasoned it burned lovely and hot in the stove.
  15. Never had any trouble with oil going wonky. It's not contaminated with water is it? last 25l Gator lasted 9 months no problem. I keep fuels and oils in the garage, hopefully frost free. Don't like leaving them overnight in vehicles to avoid condensation.
  16. I used to use Stihl oils to my local dealer closed. Now I buy 25l tubs from ebay of Gator oil. Does seem stickier as it is transferred to 5l bottles. 17. M-tronic is an electronic controlled carb. I've just looked and MS261 new from FR Jones is £603 a bit outside the budget...my bad. Sorry.
  18. Hi, Others might give better advice, but my similar experience was wen my 023 (230) let go I was told that the amount of cutting was more that the "hobby/amateur" saw was designed for. I purchased a new 261 , from the "pro" range and it hasn't missed a beat. Pushes a 16" bar with ease. M-tronic and so once started just ticks over....I've not had trouble, others may have different opinions. Good Luck Bob
  19. Doesn't feel right to click the "like" link. Beautiful work and a fitting tribute to a good friend.
  20. I am beginning to think this is the way to go. I've had a couple of very generous offers from other senior members along the same line.
  21. Cheers. I do and don't want to move it on. I can't leave it where it is without the worry I might lose it. I realise once it goes I might never get the chance to have another .....and it is a magnificent bit of kit. Jury is still out and I might end up keeping/ dismantling it until I can locate it securely.
  22. Thanks @trigger_andy Regretfully you'll notice the similarity with the one on Arbtrader. Not entirely happy about it....but it seems to be my only option. Have I over done it? Is that the point? Never sure.
  23. I'm a plain old 42. Sizing seems accurate.
  24. @Khriss They are 345 S3 as well.... LUL compliant. Not that I'd want to walk the miles I used to have to ?
  25. I'm a hobby user and these are my choice. Not too heavy and comfortable enough to walk around in all day. The first version I had a couple of years ago (4?) were made out of what could have been rhino hide. These are better and take dubbin well.
