Hi I am a member of coombe abbey woodturners and next year we will be holding a Craft/Wood show.With emphasis on the wood side we are looking for exhibitors and demonstrators to attend the show want to come along and sell your ware send me a PM We could do with a chainsaw carver and a Timber Miller. I doubt if we will be able to pay for demonstrations but most of our proceeds got to support the air ambulance this event will be held in the grounds of Coombe Abbey in Coventry and will be just a one day event Coombe abbey will be able to supply the timber for milling and carving I know it sounds cheeky to not pay for demonstrators but it's all for a good cause ps Coombe Abbey woodturners are a non profit making charity
  2. I would be looking in the bottom of the pond ,something odd there with the bubbles coming up Can't see it being the oil it would float on the top what sort of filtration does the pond have if it was sediment from the bottom of the pond you would smell it a mile away
  3. Coombe Abbey woodturners meet every Sunday and Tuesday, All day and join as a member which costs pennies and you first 2 two hour lessons are free meet at Coombe abbey Members can also use the facilities on Wednesday and Friday. 3 lathes available plus a huge bandsaw and other tools
  4. Find your local woodturning club and have a go That's where all the experience is

  7. small branches of Laburnum and Yew are always sought after by turners

  9. Any wood with character should be saved But turners are as tight as tight can be Find the right ones to deal with I would tend to ignore the woodturners clubs
  10. Great piece of timber shame you are so far away I would be happy to give £25 for it especially to a charity
  11. Had a great weekend met lots of great people and lovely setting to spend a few days Definitely one of our best shows and free entry . Can't say that about many shows nowadays cheers to eddy_t nice to meet you mate

  15. Whitmores timber in Claybrooke magna had lots in last time I was there
  16. Sale or return is ok but the very posh gallery I was in charged 100% commission plus vat on top Don't get many sales at that rate

Hi Muttley I agree it's getting harder to sell stuff nowadays Getting charged around £150 for a stall and then struggling to get the right price The mirror I made the other week wouldn't even sell for £60 I am getting talked into doing commissions for less and less money just to keep ticking over
  18. Used to do the Woodfair but £150 for a small stall just isn't worthit
