  1. I know but its all the stuff he buys out of gardens with the metal content, its not that long since i worked with some one taking a large ash down and there was the front end of a pushbike grown in to the trunk, we worked it out it had been there 60-65 years !!!
  2. Very much dought that , in how many years of working with timber and buying wagon load after wagon load of timber in i can count on one hand the trees that have contained metal, last hardwood clear fell we did that 250 + trees was the worst we have had for years, 2 of the edge trees contained metal which was just fencing wire,
  3. I offered You 16 Elm stems before Christmas 10ft long 16" - 22" diameter ???
  4. Have you got either a 362 or 461 ? as i would rob one of either of them 2 saws and try it ! i have just had a quick look at a 461 and a 660 and it looks as they would just swap over, i would think but dont take my word for it that a 362 and 400 would be the same ? i cant see Stihl making a different front hand guard for every saw ? i would think one design will cover 3-4 saws ? Ok they may and probably have got then labled as different part numbers but thats the clever bit in business one different number on the parts list and its a few quid more !! i would like to know your outcome on this and it will be a good thing to know for future refrence for us all, that a hand guard of say a 260 261 or 361 will fit another saw,
  5. Sounds a shit hot location and with the property being elevated on that hill side, all the better, property and 2-3 acers with it very nice,
  6. No its to far south for me i would never understand them down there, !!!
  7. That looks like it would make one hell of a nice property, keep all the period features in it thou, i could buy that myself quite easely ,, nice find
  8. Oh well look on the bright side,,, scrap metal is not a bad price at the moment !!!!!
  9. I have one that some one gave me that is a wand type one, it was bought for one job when i milled some 40mm slabs of oak for a customer, he bought it, we used it on this job and he just put it passenger seat in my pick up, it came off Ebay and was about £25 but will only pick metal up in timber to approx 50mm
  10. I think a good investment for you when you get your self employed grant ?? will be a hand held metal detector that will pick metal up up to 4" deep in timber !!
  11. More than likely and if the other photo dont this might !!!!
  12. Come on man get your facts right as if you get the items you need in the right order things will go smoother . KETTEL AND TEABAGS FIRST !!
  13. Yes if you want got this if any good ?? compleat with no nails !!!!!!
  14. Not my fault !! You will buy crap because its a Fiver cheaper !!!! That bolt looks a bit harsh,, You should of been sat with me an hour ago and heard the conversation i have just had with another lad who works in forestry !!!!
  15. Just lean it on the ladder rack it will be ok with a couple of straps round it, !!!!!!
  16. Scotland is a big area City/Town /Village May help a bit as haulage is not cheep these days ,
  17. The tongs in the Ebay advert you posted are totally crap, i bought a 2 pair deal of ebay about 18 mth ago for some young lads to use as they where £12 a pair and £12 was enough for them to loose compared to £40 a pair for the husky ones which are far better than any others i have used , these of Ebay are very soft metal and i am not joking, if you pick a log up and sneeze they bend and twist,,,
  18. Far to much variation in timber at roadside these days, once it was all about the same price from one end of the country to the other, if big J was with in 50 mile of me i would be buying the lot of him at that price,, A sub contracting harvesting crew where getting £95 a tonne for soft wood chip at roadside in may june july last year and this timber was some crappy windblown lodgepole pine, next guy you talk to says its £50 a tonne then the next says its £75 i think alot depends on the supply and the demand, forestry seems to work in cycles around me, like there will be timber ever where you look or ask thats for sale for 4 or 5 years then there seems to be next to nothing for a couple of years then it picks up again, The likes of Stobarts and Jenkinsons dont help matters either because if they are short of timber they can pay more than what i would pay for it, so its a bit of a vicious circle at the moment and given the recent price hike in sawn timber its only going to get worse,,,
  19. Your joking, never came out but it dont supprise me at all, i rang the police last night at 9.38pm to report something that was happening, i got a call from a Private number at 11,52 pm, just answered it and i didnt speak as i thought it could of been one of our asian freinds trying to sell me something, there was a female voice there saying its PC ????? from Lancashire constabulary, you rang before sir and reported something to us do you know if they are still there ? i just said have you not been yet ? her answer was no we are struggling to get any one there ? well everything has now gone and probably sat in a container on Heysham dock waiting to go to Ireland on the 2am ferry your going to have to be quick, she said they would go and have a look at where it happened ?? This is what we are up against they seem to have no interest what so ever in these events, But ring up about 2 youths sat on a bench sharing a joint and having a can or 2 and every officer for miles will be there at the moment ,
  20. One good tip i will give you is if you do any machine tickets all ways do your homework and dont be frightened to ask for addvise, but do the best qualification you can, your manually fed chipper wont cover every chipper out there, tracked chipper is what you should of done and that would be them all covered, NPTC and training organisations will take as much money of you as they can,
  21. I might run some down in the morning !!!
  22. Out of town with Jack Hargreaves was a fantastic program, But i dont think that could be screened in the now mard arse world with have to live in today, Fishing, shooting, ferreting, deer stalking, Fox hunting etc but back then thats what happened in the country side every day and it was how people survived, Amanda Owen is doing a uk tour latter on this year and she is doing a night just up road from me and i think it will be worth a look if it happens,,
  23. A lad who works with me has called it Townie file for many years now
  24. I would pay to watch that !!!!
  25. Latest addition to my crew
