Jesus, just spent ages reading most of the nightmare posts on this thread, and i am glad i have got what i have and thats a old 05 plate LWB Shogun 3.2ltr. £243 to insure, £320 a year to tax, knocking around 27mpg Mway work 33mpg and it pulls like a train, i think when it comes to the day when its had it i wont know what to get as i hear so many horror stories about modern vehicle,s , i feel a Donkey and cart could be on the cards for delivering logs and a Quingo for day to day use 😂

As people above have said the release cut should be at 45 degrees, the photos below are the best i can find at the moment, the larch is not that big may be 16-18" the stump has been trimmed but you can see the angle on the but end, 2nd tree is a beech 30" + and may be 80-90 ft tall and was partcially up rooted but you get the general idea of the dog tooth cut ,

my photos are not like yours, the deer we used to see on Lomond where very wary and if you farted they where gone, we used to see them swimming from island now and then, and the other thing we so on Lomond was kangaroos yes kangaroos, when we first so them the lad who was with me, looked at me and said did you see that, i said yes i did, but when we get home dont tell anyone we so some Kangaroos on a island on Loch Lomond, they will lock us up and chuck the key away,,, But after doing a bit of reserch there is a colony of Walaby,s on one of the islands and they where put there as a experiment after the war,

I have seen white red hines when we have been on Lomond fishing, i have some photos some where, i will have a look for them and post if i can find them,

This guy was one very explosive fighter and he could fight, i watched many fights with this guy but the one that stands out for me was the Hagler v lenoard in the late 80s, it was on one sat night and we was in the local pub and several people asked Kevin the landlord if he was bringing a telly down in to the bar, and with Kevin being a tight Welsh man said no, but time it got to about half 8 people started to dissapear, hence with in about 5 mins of one group of local lads going home a telly appeared, and then Fat kevin borrowed some ones bike to go and get these lads back, and if we stayed we all got a free pint, i think this was the fight which ended in a draw, Happy days them,

All i can say is if you are going to use it a lot just buy the best you can, i have just bought a botex, not of wilsons but it did come from there a couple of years ago and has had very little use, the cheaper ones are cheap for a reason and i have had one or 2 over the years that have just bent and twisted and it dont pay,
-
Did you like that avant loader ?? i had a simular sized loader for sale about 6 wk ago, it was a Kremar not the pretty, est loader but it started and did what it was built for, it was a very handy sized machine, i offered it to a few lads for £1800 and ended up with 2 of them bidding each other up, a loader of that size sure makes life easier and faster,

A lot of scams about at the moment and just seems to be getting worse, there as a boat for sale last wk that used to belong to a guy i know, who sold it five years ago but the photos in the add are in this guys back garden, the boat went to SW Scotland and is still there but its for sale in the Devon area and its a real bargain !! and some one i know has just been stung with buying a Ifor tipping trailer, seller now unavailable and should of been delivered 3 days after purchase but 5 months later still has not appered and some one is 3.8k out of pocket, this trailer was from south Wales so be warned ,

Seen the pressure washing job but had,nt seen the other roofing job tho, but to be honest i have got a bit fed up reading his repetative crap as it boils back to 2 things money and how busy he is and some how i dont believe 99% of it now,

I had seen that but if i replied to all his crap dribble i would have to have a day of work, ? and i am that busy at the moment and making 1000s i cant do it 😂😂😂

WHAT has this got to do with the original title of the thread ?? or is this your contribution just talking TRASH, have you miss understood the the TITLE ? and thinking its the thread where you can talk trash ??? From reading all the trash you have mentioned of late, you just seem to be a keyboard expert on every thing that gets mentioned on here, you talk about how really busy you are and you have all this work, you keep mentioning how much and what kit you have and what you have ordered or getting, you keep mentioning how much items cost you and how much you charge foe a job and how easy its going to be to earn xxx pounds, just go back and read your own posts and you will see how much of a total tool you are making your self look ?? I usually find the people who talk about how really busy they are NOT busy at all and just like to live the dream, then you keep saying how much you are making and again i think you wont be, just dreaming again, you said you have never had a complaint and 3 lines down in the same sentence you go on about the concreate path you laid crumbling up !! there is a reason for that but you dont know why, you blame the cement ?? as your now changing manufactures ? ever thought it might be something you have done or not done ?, One thing i have found in business over the years is keep your facts n figures to your self as the less people know the better, from reading the shit you post on here you are either a young ish lad or very inexpieranced and your going to come back at me here and spin me some yarn about how much and what you have done !! so dont bother i have heard it all before and find it very sad, Next thing you will be telling use that you have had to register for VAT as your over the threshold !! People are just enjoying your tall stories so much as i have had 3 guys of here mention you today and they are all pissing there selves at you and one of them is just down the rd from you, Scottish cleaning LTD (PLC) this will be you by Easter i suppose ???

FFS you could wright a book about this thread, i dont know what you would call it but i think a rellivant title would be Old Mccdonald, as there is that much Bullshit flying about its unreal,,,,,
-
Well i am with you on this one 100%, it dont just seem to be the same as it was a few years ago, and the people who seem to start the arguing are people who seem to have nothing to do with tree work at all but they seem to know everything about it and when they are put right they dont like it and thats when things seem to start, Threads get hijacked and seem to head off down every avenue there is except the right one, perfect example id the thread titled, fencing cost, one man has taken it every where but where it should be, why he cant start his own thread about what he wants to mention is beyond me and it seems to get a bit shitty at times, this very same subject was raised about 12 month ago by wisewood i think,

As above for sawlogs Irvings at hutton roof, chip wood could be run in to cronspan at Wrexham as it aint that far. Whitfires just south of Preston for chip wood as well which will be made in to sawdust and shavings and there is another sawdust and shaving place in Manchester on Trafford park i think, The nearer it is sold to the job site the better for you, -
Set off as a stock fencing thread this one with a guy asking a genuine question on cost per mtr, we are now nearly at 50 replies in but it seemed to take a different direction away from stock fencing at post 9 ? since then i have learnt about fencing at a £100 per mtr, but it took a bit of working out how it was £100 a meter, but i now no that i have to drill a pilot hole for every nail,,, learnt about pricing 10k tree felling jobs and then the golden egg cup that window cleaning being the best kept secret there is, and you can make £45 an hour ? a close freind is a window cleaner but he all so has a 2nd job looking after a disabled person , i will put him right on this when i see him?? as they say every day is a school day and i have realised today i am not to old to learn,,,

That seems very very cheap to me, we where getting £57,50 per tonne in 2019, the current market i believe is very good with chip/firewood grade softwood being about £70 tonne R/S and sawlogs now above £100 a tonne R/S, this is in the northwest UK other areas may be cheaper but if i could buy it at £35-£45 tonne i would be very happy at that, Up here they seems to be a dramatic shortage of Firewood available as the big boys like Jenkinsons and Stobarts seem to be swallowing it all up, I know one lad who has just bought a couple of load of softwood and its cost him £93,25 delivered to his yard and the haulage would be 45-50 mile so not a long way but it was dear enough.

Its 3 yr ago tho and it was only a temp job as its all being renewed in a couple of yr when they harvest the site, it was only 3" posts and some cheap chinease wire just to last 5-6 yr
-
Last one i did was 200 mtrs and a bastard to access being right at the very top of a block of forestry in the middle of nowhere, all posts netting and barb taken up on quad, all done by hand and i quoted £8 mtr . this is about 3 years ago, today on good ground its got to be £8 mtr at least ,
