  1. Maybe an S2 isnt suitable then. I have a simple flip up cover (in a rather nice shade of pink) and tend to leave in cradle in vehicle. Cracking phone btw.
  2. Even I can get it nice and dry!
  3. Bird box cracked me up! Excellent. T'other stuff (both gents) top notch too.
  4. I remember an Old Norse tale (?) saying that you must ask permission from the Elder Queen before cuttong or breaking elder otherwise bad things will happen. Dont know how she is meant to give permission so I just apologise first:biggrin: Burns well when dry too. And whilst on, the old idea of putting elder in the roof space of your house to keep witches away has very sensible reasoning behind it. For witches read woodworm. Elder is one of the first woods to be attacked by woodworm so you would put it in yr attic and replace it with a fresh bit every year. Thus keeping yr hovel woodworm free:confused1:
  5. Luftwaffe and boys.......................whats the title of the thread about?
  6. Its not roads that are dangerous:biggrin:
  7. Michael Winners' never been to Portmerion. (Try.....Victor Lewis-Smith Michael Winner Youtube) Verry funny!
  8. AA (an t'others)............Brill thanks for taking the time, will pass it on.
  9. Cheers for the links, BUT some work, some dont?
  10. Mike just one question...............how on earth did you come across this?
  11. Wot snow?
  12. Not sure this helps, so could you explain? Or are you inferring it would be up to the insurers to say what they would be happy with? Ta
  13. Doing a bit of voluntary this weekend and all saw operators need their tickets. The chap who has organised the work on behalf of an angling club has to make sure the saw operators have suitable qualifications for insurance purposes. He is aware of NPTC but are there any others of similar gravitas?
  14. 300 tdi for me. I have had 200tdi (bits getting harder to find) and have a Td5 and 300. Td5 is more refined but its got more intelligence than me, ie too many electrics. Dont trust em miself. As vehicles age wires always cause problems. If yr changing it often then no probs, but I like to keep em a long time. My (slightly tweaked) 300 has lots more low end grunt too, brill when loaded (its a 110 hi-cap) or towing. More relaxing (if noisier?) to drive than my chipped 130 crew cab (although a mate had his 90 Td5 chipped at same time as me, and tbh its frighteningly fast + torquey). MPG wise not much in it. Even i'm confused now!
  15. I think Austin sums it up pretty well. As for sycamore, this once again seems to polarise opinion. 20 yrs ago I would have been happy to see it eradicated from our upland woods. To restore a more 'natural balance' we removed over a thousand from one site and guess what? The odd ones that coppiced (ie didnt get nibbled) are going to give us firewood soon. Nothing else seems to do as well. I am shortly about to plant a few in a new coppice. Never thought i'd see the day. I have always thought that our ancient woodlands evolved BECAUSE of man (and woman) using the timber and timber products. Surely we should still be doing this but using our greater knowledge (?) to protect vulnerable flora and fauna. Or else we will be importing more and more firewood:cursing:
  16. Hope it comes with signs to put up incase anyone is standing in its line of projection. Wouldnt want them to get blinded.................... before the tree lands on them.
  17. 3:36 Remi Galliard.......................the man.
  18. Well done fella
  19. A strange one this. I like the idea of a group of people championing access rights and protecting rights of way etc. Many of which were probably informally gathered over time. No major objections in the past led to rights being established. HOWEVER I have had a few dealings with the Ramblers Assoc and found them nowt but bloody minded pains in the rear. How can moving a public footpath 10 yards across a flat field so that a barn can be built to overwinter sheep so that the moorland can benefit from reduced grazing, on ENVIRONMENTAL grounds according to all the powers that be, constitute a problem for access. Apparently it does and cost thousands to sort out, simply because an automatic objection to a right of way being diverted was raised by The Ramblers..................... Surely this is not why the group evolved?
  20. Go 1 size up. I am normally a Meindl 45, but 46 in Airstreams. Cracking boots btw.
  21. Have not been in an NT gift shop. I'm not allowed cos I is not white enough, or middle class enough, or willing to pay stupid amounts of money for 'all butter' place mats or eco-friendly doormats................................(phew that feels better)
  22. A friend who works for National Trust has to do refreshers for all his tickets every 3 yrs. But that is a NT policy, probably to do with insewerance/cover their own backs. I would imagine some other employers are similar. (What did National Trust do with all the "The's" when they rebranded? Perhaps there is a warehouse full of them somewhere?)
