  1. Sadly I wasnt that surprised at her rant. She just let it boil over. I think there will be more than a couple of folk who agree with her. Just because it is generally not acceptable to be racist etc, etc, it dont mean people arent. Just they dont generally show it. As i have always said, there are enough reasons to dislike someone without worrying about the colour of their skin ( or sexuality, or hair colour (( well obviously apart from ???????????)) etc etc) We are creating a slum ecology in GB, me thinks we NEED a few fresh genes. If Little Miss Adolf represents Britain can someone please let me out.
  2. From Met Office Mouintain Forecast; Yorkshire Dales for thurs........ "Maximum winds above 400m Southwest 70 mph gusting 80, perhaps 90 mph."
  3. This is the man (Victor Lewis-Smith) who as producer, once replaced Libby Purvis as presenter on Midweek (Radio 4) with Arthur Mullard. Dont suppose anyone has a copy???? (Sorry have hijacked a bit)
  4. "Not his no1 fan then?" Erm...................no. No I havent read any of his books, or indeed to I intend to, but going by the amount of times I see his face on books in charity shops, Clarkson this, Clarkson that etc, etc, it seems a lot of people have, or at least have bought and discarded. He obviously finds it more lucrative to cater to the lowest common denominator. He does polarise people seemingly. I wrote a song a year or two ago called 'Song I Wrote Next Month' about the passing of Mr C and his top gear chums. Usually get more than And on a similar theme..... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpL9a-5LFpI]Jeremy Clarkson Obituary - YouTube[/ame]
  5. Snowing in Swaledale North Yorks, and laying. 1.7 degrees C
  6. Apparently he did... Jeremy Clarkson loses battle to ban ramblers from walking around his £1.2m holiday lighthouse on Isle of Man | Mail Online :party:
  7. Trouble is .................... people do Did he ever get the right of way problems sorted at his lighthouse?
  8. On a slightly different approach, when I first saw this thread I knew nothing of WHY it was here, it just gave me a chance to have a pop at Mr Clarkson, and as you may have summised I am not his number 1 fan. HOWEVER, I heard the 'offending' interview with him and am now once again saddened at the gross stupidity of the collective masses. If you had heard said interview Clarkson started by saying how nice and quiet London was etc etc BUT to balance his positive comments he made a negative one, re. shooting strikers etc (a dig at BBC and general modern PC 'fairness' right to reply nonsense). Much as I hate to admit it, this was a clever and witty comment. I think he was hi-jacked by people who feel they have a right to be offended. BTW if any of my above has been covered already in this thread I apologise but there are more interesting things on Arbtalk to trawl through than 14 pages of comment on 'media fuelled hysteria'.
  9. The problem with all this is its just given him the oxygen of publicity. Personally I wouldnt give him the oxygen of oxygen. (With fond memories of Linda Smith)
  10. Someone pointed me to this Wood Equilibrium Moisture Content Calculator from Wood Workers Source.com in another thread. If you live in the moist northern hills and are getting 20% you are not doing too bad!
  11. Arboholic wrote " I've just got in and taken them off and found a load of clogging material down my leg" I'm amazed you got ANY straight answers:biggrin:
  12. This might seem a silly question but as you are all talking about seasoned logs here goes. Is 'seasoning' JUST the removal of moisture, or is there something else 'drying' out? Is there any change in the levels of 'volatiles' (or whatever the technical term is)?
  13. How would your insurer ever be aware of it, especially on a second-hand vehicle?
  14. I am looking for a timber trailer and crane to use with my 650cc quad. I know of the Atkinson Vos ones. Any other suggestions?
  15. Quote. [You'll get used to the poor driving position, crap heater, noisy cab, slow progress and slightly wayward roadholding in the wet....] I love the driving position.................whats a heater?................what did you say (although thats cos I have the stereo on!).....................not slow at all, just not as fast as some others, but then I do like to 'smell the roses'.................mostly down to tyre choice and expecting a tall vehicle to behave like a sports car!
  16. If these burrs are at grazing height i'm pretty sure they are the result of shoots being grazed off over a period of many years. We have many such ash around these parts. Presumably holes are left by scar tissue? Anyone turned any?
  17. Not trying to be clever (I dont even know what tappotalk is:biggrin:) but one thing I learnt being an iPod user is that when an upgrade is offered, dont install till you are 100% sure it will be OK. I always check iLounge first for iPods, see what experience other users have had. Sad to say but the first people to install upgrades are effectively beta-testers for the manufacturers. So check user-groups. NOT GOOD If it aint broke dont fix it till you know 100% you can fix it less broke:lol:
  18. Have both TD5 and 300TDi.....prefer 300, simpler engine, cheaper engine bits (I am told) AND You can alter/mod a LR body to your requirements without a problem.
  19. "He's gay..... so what!" As I said not a problem. "Heralded as a modern day Oscar Wilde" Yep by other 'luvvies'. As Melchett (if thats how you spell it?) he was wonderful. Can't argue. But he has just turned into a default presenter. Now a national treasure, like Judi Dench, Alan Titchmarsh and Julie Walters to name but a few. Think its time we burried some treasure personally. You wait, with the growth of digital channels it'll be BBC Fry next.
  20. Did time for credit card fraud. Not something he generally crows about.
  21. On the subject of Fry, my mate and I reckoned there wasnt any other 'celeb' who could be described by the moniker fat arrogant theiving puff I understand he has thinned down a bit now:hmpf: BTW I have nowt against puffs. Arrogant theiving porkers not my cup of tea though:biggrin:
  22. Cheers. The woodland in question will be in a WIGS by the time of the FFIS application. I talked to our National Park Woodland Officer who is co-ordinating the WIGS with FC and whoever else, and he reckons we will be ok for FFIS. The FC should be onside already so hopefully they will be happy to help with 'certification'. Will have a root through yor link in the morn
  23. Thanks to another post on Arbtalk regarding the Farming and Forestry Improvement Scheme it looks like I may be able to take advantage of a grant. In the application it mentions certification. Now although this isnt a prerequisite for acceptance it would help if said woods were certified. I presume this is all to do with sustainability etc etc but would I be correct in thinking there are various such sorts of 'certification'? As in the words of Manuel....."I know nothing" Any help appreciated.
  24. Have filled it in too. As I have more than one wood, I have had to pretend it is one big one for the survey. Hope thats ok?
