  1. Anybody know a contractor with a tractor mount circular saw type hedge cutter? I have c200m of tall mostly fairly thin hawthorn that needs a cut to about 8 foot, together with the sides reducing so we can lay it next winter. Also a mile or more of normal farm hedge trimming. (A flail is NOT suitable for any of it.) I am in N Yorks close to Co Durham/A1.
  2. Said old winch plate. Maybe if i'm lucky (and Riko are daft enough!) I could swap a collectible antique for a new one?
  3. Cheers for the replies. My original winch was a Riko 30D. Riko UK had not heard of it either, but the factory model plate was still very clear so its not me whos got it wrong! I could put up a pic. Anyway I have contacted some of the above and am getting prices/delivery times etc. Apparently winches are in short supply at the mo. But I like the sound of JimE's 4 tonner. Could you PM me with some details? I'm not far from Tockwith, have spent many happy hours drowning worms on the Nidd near there!
  4. Are there any UK Fransguard dealers?
  5. The Riko winch mentioned in my other thread has ceased to be. Not economical to repair. Have looked at both Uniforest (Riko) and Farmi, and like the look of Farmis. Johnathan Latham's casually informed me that their web page is 2 years out of date and they dont do Farmi anymore, and Corwen Forestry are not the best at responding. I am in N Yorks (7 miles from Leyburn Lad if his soubriquet relates to his place of residence) but realistically expect to purchase over phone and have delivered. Any pointers to a good dealer? Cheers in advance.
  6. Cheers for the info......however, we have managed to strip the winch down (lots of heat/cooling etc) and found the chainwheel where the friction material fastens to, and the drum face where the clutch 'rubs' will both need machining. The bearings dont look too good and the odd bush needs replacing. Add to that a new cable.................. Anyone got a 30-40 Kn PTO winch for sale, or recomend a new 'un?
  7. Cheers for the reply. I have rung Riko UK who had never heard of a 30D! I have trawled t'net too but my Eastern European isnt too good, neither is auto-translating the pages. Just for the record the manufacturers plate is as follows: EKV-30D masa (kg) 190 ((dont need help on that one!)) tov stevilka 3148 leto izdelave 1989 ((year of manufacture?)) Cheers
  8. Does anyone have a parts/instruction manual for a Riko 30D PTO winch, or have any experience in servicing them? Any ideas/help gratefully received. Corylus Swaledale, N Yorks
