  1. That's right, I heard you've really turned things around. The first can doesn't get opened till 11am! 😂🍻🍻🍻
  2. Well done Steve. You will regret it occasionally but it's worth it in the long run. The only three tips I would give are: 1. Keep your body up high on branch walk because it makes the return and balance easier. In other words, stay on top of the branch not down close to it. 2. It's all about re-directs. Put them in constantly to boost confidence and to quickly find out what type suits you. 3. IT'S ALL ABOUT RE-DIRECTS! Edit. Tip 3 could also read: IT'S ALL ABOUT THE SHOUTING! 'Cos it usually helps. 😂😂😂
  3. If you find someone who wants it they're not allowed to collect until they've collected my two artics of Oak and Ash in Surrey! Hahaha! 😱😱 😂😂😂 Edit: it's amazing how many people have said they would come and get it and then let me down badly. (James Marlow had been the only person who is as good as his word). Still two trailer loads though.
  4. Almost every part of a new Husky or Stihl saw is made with cheeses of varying density. Last week my 560xp unscrewed the two bolts that secure the Dog Teeth. The thread was stripped inside the bolt holes as the bolts vibrated themselves loose!!!!! I think the bolts are made of stale Leerdamer and the engine case is old Edam. 👎🏼
  5. Well it says it's based upon Jared Abrojena's secret climbing system so I guess we will never know, even if we buy one!
  6. That looks fantastic Gordon. Edit: BTW I'm still loving my BDB so thank you for making it.
  7. I assume that you have bought this by now Bob and will belong in the morning to kindly lift all those big Oak logs for me! I'll put 'tkettle on. Al Cormack has previously let me down by selfishly deciding not to buy an expensive lorry 'n crane to move the logs! Edit: I've just noticed that they've already put Al's name on the crane!
  8. :lol::thumbup1:
  9. I only read the first sentence of the OP so my recommendation is a Tesla P90D, on account of the fabulous acceleration. Simple.
  10. You mention you are freelancing and subcontracting. Which is it? They are two very different things and I suggest you and the people you are working for are aware of the level of legal exposure that this naivety can incur. I only mention this because you said you've just started out by yourself. Anyway, to answer your question about rigging kits: I use several freelancers and find it's not necessary for them to have rigging gear because I have it all. I'm sure this is true of all firms that you work for, unless they are worryingly under equipped with gear and knowledge/skills. However, I am aware that freelancers are sometimes used because a firm does not have the gear or skills to carry out a particular job. But, if you do have your own rigging gear, who pays for your rope when a dumb groundie glazes it? Your bollard when the same groundie smashes it with a big lump?? I personally would not be taking my gear and life into a job where the groundies running the rigging have no clue. It's just an accident waiting to happen and it happens often. Just my opinion though (based on loads of experience:laugh1:)
  11. It is best to tie into the crown or the base. That's not a facetious answer, it depends on all relevant factors.
  12. What he said.
  13. Best comment on this thread so far. :thumbup1:
  14. Holy cow, I've never seen such a device! What is it? how much? Where from? Presumably it could lift the butt end if a big limb then you could reverse the machine to drag the limb to the chipper?
  15. If I had a groundie spending time lying on the ground unconscious, i'd charge them a camping fee and dock 1hrs wages!
  16. Oops! Why on earth would you get into such a state Bob?! Haha!
  17. I'm dismantling two Oaks in Ifield, Crawley. They are road side and will be left on the ground with all stubs and Ivy cleaned off. One is 3ft DBH and 24ft long. The smaller is 16" DBH and 20ft long. I can make them shorter if you prefer. The wood is sound in both of them, I just don't have the time to deal with it myself. If interested please call me on 07834414271. Al.
  18. I would definitely use this service and would have used it yesterday and last week. Paypal would be an attractive part of this service. Edit: and the week before actually.
  19. That photo should not be on this thread. The shovel isn't full of wood chips or logs!!
  20. That's what the rust is for, isn't it??
  21. I base anchor for most of my work however I make sure that the anchor leg is on the opposite side of the tree and achieve this by re-routing that leg when necessary.
  22. Be careful Ted. It's full of damn Aussies!
