  1. I have had alot of emails the last few months from companies in europe importing kiln dried wood by the container load. Just wondering if anyone actualy buys them?! From what i can gather you will be lucky to get it cheaper than £120 a cube?! 60 cube container for about £6200+vat (im guessing at 20%?!) what do you guys think or am i missing something?
  2. We give ours from the processor to the loverly lady in the horse stables at the farm we are on. Just an excuse to go and see her really
  3. Yes same here, we leave ours out in m3 bags for about 80% of the time and bring them in when ready just to finish them off!
  4. From memory of speaking to the guy at fuelwood a year or so ago i dont think you would get much change out of £50k!
  5. Search wallenstein splitters on here and you will find loads of people that love them! Im one if them!
  6. Yea been mountain biking for a goid few years, got a trek remedy. Ride anything in south wales, try and stat away from trail centres as there is so much better stuff around if you know where your looking!
  7. One thing i have learnt from trying to start businesses since i was 16 is dont expect any help, with anything! Money or information wise. The lack of interest and support i have had from so many government bodies (ie jobs for the boys) that are set up to help is mad. Dont get me started on the banks for financial help. And for grants they have spent all the money on fitting very inefficient solar panels to every house in the country to worry about helping out small businesses! Good luck with your venture
  8. I think its because there are so many people doing kindling now, we looked into hireing a kindlet out and the time it takes, costs involved it was just easier and as cheap to buy it in and spend those 2 weeks cutting logs.
  9. Wallenstein all the way! They are awesome, speak to andrew at wallenstein uk and im sure he will sort you out with a deal!
  10. £50-60 an hour! Not your machines and no business worries, i would jump at the chance of that!
  11. johny, do you find the middle of the pile gets moldy?!
  12. Yea going well for us at the moment, seem to be going out with a full 3 cube load on every delivery so thats nice! People stocking up
  13. Ha! No mine is built like a tank! They are awesome splitters
  14. All i can say is good luck!!
  15. Yea also had problems when putting them straight into the polytunnel, i now leave them outside uncovered in m3 vented bags then when the moisture is getting into the low 20s put them in the polytunnel for a month.
  16. It does work a treat but we are able to use the telehandler on the farm Less and less now so moving them about is tricky. We dont have much hardstanding so when its wet its very muddy! I have seen people with 10m by 10m piles and just wonder what the wood is like in the middle!
  17. Hi, I was just wondering what you do when processing your firewood? We split into a M3 vented bag and put it on a pallet outside covered. I have heard that alot of people just pile the wood up in a shed/under cover but every time we have tried that it just seems to go moldy very quickly. we have tried inside, outside no covered and outside covered. Any suggestions? Cheers
  18. Brilliant, thanks fisherman, thats the sort of feedback i was after. Just wondering how you renforced the bed? Was it easy enough?
  19. Hi, I was just wondering how many of you have the Farmi mastersplit processors? What do you think??

  22. I can remember someone on ebay from Ireland selling kindling spliters a few months back, FB Fabrications i think, they made a spliter that done firewood one end and kindling the other! Google them and see if you can find them
  23. Hi Andrew,

Yes its been perfect. we have put well over 100 ton through it in the last few and its been brilliant. still fancying that processor though, if it ever comes into the UK :) yes that's not a problem, if you give him my number (07772280850) we can sort out a date and give him directions. if hes from newport hes only 10 minutes down the road.

    cheers

    Ash
