  1. Hi, I have had a good look with the search button but couldnt find anything, I'm looking to hire a processor in South Wales, for about a week or two depending on the price. Any one know of anyone?!?!
  2. Yes I got the wx540, awesome bit of kit!! I have done about 100 cube with it so far and it will go through anything you throw at it, very well built too, you can see it was made In Canada! One last selling point is Andrew at wallenstein uk, top bloke! I'm just waiting for the processor with the winch to come out, as soon as it lands Im getting it!
  3. nick how do you find the logs for mould? are they seasoned before they go in? I had beech in a shed similar to yours on pallets with decent air flow and they went mouldy in weeks. I now put them outside for a month or two first and then put them in 2 cubic metre potatoe boxes and they seem to be alright so fair
  4. its our first year this year so im not sure what to expect really! its not going too bad at the moment, done a few deliveries but would like it to be a bit busier!
  5. I dont understand why people are so scared of putting log prices up?! I have bottled gas central heating and in November it was £46 a bottle, now its £59, everyone in the area has put there prices up together so everyone has to pay it simple as that. same with Electricity, it looks like everyone will be putting the prices up 15-20% in the next few months, everyone does it so people have to pay it. people selling a cube for £40-50 is surely less sustainable than selling it at £120, they will soon realise there not making enough money and not bother any more. If everyone charged around the same price everyone would win, it happens in most other industries!
  6. £220 a year! Im on bottled gas and the cheapest i can find now around here is £59 a bottle........ we went throught a bottle a week last winter! 2 bedroom house, double loft insulation, double glazing, new A rated boiler! we struggled to get it over 15 degrees most of the time. not good!
  7. awesome cheers spud, I will let him know and get him to take a look at the piston. any problems I will give you a PM. Personally I would of just sent it straight back and got my money back!
  8. Hi, posting this for a friend but he has just bought a 357xp off ebay (I did say not to buy a saw off ebay) but it doesn't look like its had a lot of use. He started it fine the first day for about 10 minutes of cutting, stopped with a splutter and sounded like it had run out of juice, it didn't but we filled it up again and haven't been able to start it since! He fitted a new plug, its wet when you pull it so there is petrol coming through. cleaned out the carb and filter but still nothing. Are we missing something or has anyone got any idea's!? Cheers Ash
  9. yea im on £90 a cube for beech too
  10. yea with 3 people, one cutting, one splitting with a log splitter and the other usually making tea/pottering about, from 9 til 5 with lots of tea brakes and chatting we usualy do 5/8m3 a day, with the 3rd person moving the logs about stacking/baging a few more.
  11. Yes I have a Wallenstein WX540 and its awesome! built like a tank and splits everything I have thrown at it, great honda engines on them too. I would recommend them to anyone. Give Andrew a call from Wallenstein UK hes very helpfull!
  12. Hi guys + gals, I put this on the chainsaw bit but didnt get much response so thought I would ask here... I'm looking for a new chainsaw, all it will be doing is firewood, beech, oak and larch. Nothing big really no more than 15" I have a 029 farmboss at the moment and its a good saw, has just plodded along and got on with whatever I have thrown at it but I'm sure there is something more focused at "firewood" as such and just wondered if you could recommend anything? Cheers Ash
  13. I cant see the point in cutting it up for £50 a cube?! I charge £100 a cube of seasoned beech. A friend of a friend that started buying loads off me this winter kept moaning of my prices so I said come and help me for a day and see how much effort goes into making 1m3, before you even start taking in the cost of the wood, fuel ect ect ect..... lets just say he doesn't moan anymore! I think everyone needs to stick together on prices, like most other industries. every other type of fuel is gone up by over 20-30% over the last year and no one seems to want to put firewood prices up for the fear of loosing customers. If everyone sells a m3 for £90 or more than everyone has to pay £90 or more for the wood. simple as that!
  14. I'm looking for a new chainsaw, all it will be doing is firewood, beech, oak and larch. Nothing big really no more than 15-17". I have a 029 farmboss at the moment and its a good saw, has just plodded along and got on with whatever I have thrown at it but I'm sure there is something more focused at "firewood" as suck and just wondered if you could recommend anything? Cheers Ash
  15. Hi guys, I'm looking for a conveyor for firewood, I'm doing a lot of handballing/walking back and forth at the moment and a conveyor would save me a lot of time! I have been looking for a while but cant seem to find any, or any where that shows prices anyway! wouldnt mind a second hand one to keep the cost down. Does anyone know of one available or recommend anyone? Cheers Ash
  16. I have a 2000 vauxhall combo 1.7d t0hat i use for my bikes and with Admeral I pay £550, 22 with 4 years no claims. Didnt think that was too bad as its the first car/van I have insured that comes under 1k!
  17. yea a good mate of mine has one, he delivers for interlink and his has just ticked over 300,000 miles and its still running mint!
  18. I have just signed up to the directory! Give it a go and see how it goes
  19. yea dont get me wrong, Iv done alot of travelling around shops the last couple of years and some of the shops are ace, real good bunch of guys but its mainly the small shops that are your helpful ones, always keen but there's not many, seems that everyone I have spoken to here has been spot on, I know I only mentioned two in my post but there are many more!
  20. My usual job is in the bicycle industry and I have to say I have been totally shocked at how helpful everyone I have dealt with in this industry, might sound a bit soppy but everyone is so happy to help and Im just not used to it! Today got caught out a bit and needed a chainsaw chain asap, called my local chainsaw shop Blackwood Chainsaws at 1.30pm (who I have never dealt with before) and they closed at 1, he said dont worry I will meet you in the shop in 20 minutes, got there and he opened up the shop and I was there for about 45 minutes talking about chainsaws and he couldn't be happier to help. Showed me a few chainsaws at work and chatted all for a £17 chain, What a guy! Also Andrew at Wallenstein UK when I was looking for a splitter couldn't be more helpful. Loads more people too and you guys for a hive on information! I wish it was like this in the bike Industry, because its not!
  21. yea good job on getting your money back, I called that guy on ebay when I was looking for my splitter, I decided to go for a proper company in the end not just some guy making a log splitter! Give Andrew at wallenstein UK a shout, I bought mine off him a few weeks ago and he was always happy to help and the splitter is very good quality! couldnt have asked for more of his service:thumbup1: good luck
  22. yes i would be interested, pm sent:thumbup1:
  23. its going to be for next year. do you have any available?
