  1. Would a "wood trader" website similar to woodlots but easier search functions ect be a good idea? I can make one
  2. Hi Jim, yes i read that one. I will take the valve off and have a look like you said, see whats going on. any problems i will give you a shout. Are you back in work on the 2nd? Or 6th? Cheers Ash
  3. Thanks for that Jim, i will double check nothing is stopping the ram from retracting all the way tomorrow. I will Measure the distance and get back to you as well! Thank you!!!
  4. Yea we have taken that apart but it was clean inside. Greased it back up and put it back together. Its odd because it will run flat out for a few pulls then it wont for the next couple, just do intermittent! Seems like the valve is moving fine when you pull it without the machine running. We have adjusted the little plate in different positions as well to check if that makes any difference.
  5. Im running it off the petrol engine. No hydraulic leaks anywhere either
  6. Tried new bar and chain. Its the chainsaw not running at full tilt
  7. Im just wondering if any other Farmi mastersplit owners have the problem where the chainsaw doesnt always run at full speed? Ours seems to have 3 speeds to it and you seem to have to pull it back and forth a few times to get it running at full speed but sometimes it goes full tilt on the first pull. Alpine tractors told me to take the switch/valve apart and clean it which i have but havnt made any difference. Hydraulic fluid is also full. Cheers Ash
  8. is that to supply them cord or split stuff?
  9. Im almost certain they only sell 100% British wood now. They own most of the woodland around Hereford and with there sister company that puts poplar woodlands on farmlands with massive grants I'm sure they have more than enough wood. I hadn't been asked for kiln dried once in the last 4 years, imported a container this year and sold it all for £130 a cube (my normal seasoned price is £100) in 2 months. no complaints! Everyone knew what they were buying. Its obvious the kiln idea isn't for you but it sure is for others
  10. I have been reading this thread over the last few days as well as the one Iain posted a few months ago with some feedback on the idea and have been baffled at the negativity everyone has given it. Logpro is a company not a charity so of course they will be making money out of it, but for me its perfect. I dont have £50k tucked away or the facility to get finance on £50k so if someone is offering me a kiln for a small startup outlay of £5k with that being paid back to me in 5 years and no monthly finance to pay is a complete no brainer. If your doing 100 tons a year its probably not for you and if your doing 1000 tons a year you can probably already afford to buy one anyway. There are plenty of firewood producers this will help.
  11. Someone from the forestry commission reads these threads? They need to start reading there emails and answering the phone first. I had a few loads of softwood from a local woodland 2 years ago on the "firewood framework contract" (which is now near enough pointless) and after going to the same place mountain biking and noticing they had another 2-3 loads worth there a year later i contacted them and asked if i could buy it from them. Over a month of trying to contact someone they got back to me. His reply was no because they are understaffed and couldnt get anyone to go and measure it.... I asked if there would be any time in the next 6 months that he could get someone to measure it which he replied no. So in my experience utterly useless
  12. I bought a £50 gazebo from bnq years and years ago. It lasted a couple seasons when i was racing mountain bikes and 4 years doing firewood.
  13. I see sorry i thought you meant a replacement for nets! Yes wooden boxes exist, you can get potato boxes or cubic metre boxes. Potato boxes are about £40-50 each and hold 1.7 cube and we were offered 1 cubic metre OSB board boxes the other day for £20. So again all pretty expensive
  14. Unfortunately boxes are quite expensive. When ordering 1000's of blank custom size boxes at a time in the sort of size you would need, you would be probably be looking at 40-50p a box. If you wanted it printed you can double/triple that!
  15. I would double check that,The cheapest actual cubic metre vented bags from bag supplies worked out to be about £7+vat from memory. I have had a few "bag/net" companies call me this year all saying they can supply me 1 cubic metre ton bags for £2.50/3 per bag when ordering over 100. They all turned out to be 850x850x850 bags when i asked for sizes of the bags. When telling them to do the simple math to work out they are definitely not a cubic metre bag they were all baffled! I was gobsmacked that these bag companies of which had very good websites selling a huge range of bags couldnt work it out. So thats why the firewood market quantities are all to s**t, because the people selling the bags havnt got a clue what they are selling.
  16. Yea i can never understand people that charge way under everyone else in the area, there are a few around here that boast they are a lot cheaper than us but i think more fool them. Im making more profit and selling out at the end of November anyway for the same amount of work. Just wish i had more time to process 1000 cube to last me to christmas
  17. Yea we made a wooden handle that attached to the both metal handles on the machine and came forward about 10". This made it a lot closer to you so you didnt have to lean forward. It also meant with the leverage, you could just push the lever up and down instead of back and fourth.... If that makes sense?!
  18. That really does baffle me. I have measured the internal of the crate and thats bang on 2 cubic metres. Its all stacked neatly and i have filled 2 cubic metre bags and nearly filled a 0.25 barrow bag. We then unloaded the bags into our 1 cubic metre bays on the truck and they were right so im really not sure how you can get 2.6+ loose cubic metres out of one of those crates
  19. Sorry mark didnt mean to sound like i was having a go at you!
  20. To give you an idea we had just about 2.2 loose cubic metres out of a 2 cubic metre stacked from premium wood. Whoever says you can get 3 loose cubic metres has either never tried it and is just picking numbers out of the air or are filling builders bags. The wood is very good quality and they are a great company to deal with.
  21. Pmed you sam
  22. No wonder customers are confused, most firewood companies dont seem to have a clue what they are selling, ton of logs, builders bag, ton bag. from what o can find there are 3 different sizes of builders bags. The stove shops dont have a clue either. Called 3 local stove shops last week to offer them my wood, all 3 were clueless when it came to volumes of what they were getting delivered. One of them has a ton of logs delivered for £70, explained was it actualy a ton of logs, after about 10 minutes figures out it was a builders bag, went on to explain the differences between builders bags and cubic metre bags. Went on for a further 10 minutes and it ended with him still adiment he was getting a better deal buying it for £70 for a 750x750x750 builders bag than what i could have done sorting him out a deal for £80 a cubic metre.... If everyone stuck to cubic metres it would be easy!
  23. I cant understand how people say you get 1.63 loose cubic metres out of 1 cubic metre stacked. I had 2.2 loose cubic metres out of a neatly stacked 2 cubic metre crate?!
  24. James, its a Farmi Mastersplit wp36. Would recommend it to anyone!
  25. This is the only pic i can find of ours, theres hardly any downslope on it really but the logs roll nicely. As you said its half the machine without it!
