  1. Like I said, I'm only drying them. For the most part, I DO know where they live, and I live in a place where we have a pretty strong sense of community. The last time they turned up, they found themselves chased off by the locals, who all turned up suitably equipped, and NO ONE got a visit afterwards.
  2. Well you got 1 nice looking saw there.
  3. If anyone needs an oldest chainsaw. Danarm Fury Chainsaw | Norfolk | Gumtree It's only up the road from me. I'm quite tempted.
  4. Totally unconnected, but I use my 2 sheds to store my kit in. I also find them excellent places to hang my considerable collection of treble fishing hooks up to dry when I come back from a trip. I find they dry best at face height.

    Guide Bar

    Nope, not just you.
  6. You are joking?
  7. Not saying you're wrong, just that I can't agree with you. I think many of us will have been shafted at some time or another. on the whole though I find that the equation balances, if you keep helping people, you keep getting repaid (in the long run).
  8. Sorry I was responding to this. Not paying attention and hadn't realised there were another 2 pages of posts. Had friends come to stay last night and the red wine flowed freely. Brains a bit addled today.
  9. I disagree, I find that the better you treat people, then the better they treat you. Yes I have been taken for a mug in the past, and yes it has cost me, but, and it is a big but, after many years I have a group of people who I can call on anytime, who remember what I have done for them in the past. There will always be takers who stiff you, but most people do the right thing.
  10. Used to stick the mother in law in the back. Couldn't hear a word she said from the front.:001_tt2:

    Hidden woods

    Like that a lot.
  12. Check the roof lining for water marks. The sun roofs on Discos are terrible for developing leaks.
  13. Links please:001_smile::001_smile:
  14. The show, or the new hair-do?
  15. Oh yeah that's the other thing I've learnt about them.
  16. One thing I have learnt about women, you can't fool em into anything for long. If they're still with you, it's because you're doing something right.
  17. So I'm off for my annual trip down to the Under-cliffs, between Lyme Regis and Axmouth. I love it down there. 2 weeks brush-cutting and raking and I get to camp in one of the most amazing spots to be found in the south of the UK. Last year I saw 5 people in all the time I was there, 4 of them were walkers who turned up for 20 mins one morning, and the other was the Reserve Manager from Natural England, who dropped in to have lunch. For those of you who have never been, I really suggest you do. The under-cliffs are completely dominated by Ash and this place could be very different indeed in a couple of decades, so do it soon. Anyway, usually allow myself one day off, last year I went fossil hunting and found an enormous matrix (30Kg), which I then had to struggle back down the beach for 3 miles with (now one of my sons proudest possessions). Your suggestions for my day off this year please.
  18. Is there some sort of strange force at work here that attracts nurses to Arb Talkers? Seems to be an awful lot of them. Perhaps it's the other way round, and somewhere deep down we all know we're might get hurt one day, and need someone to dress our wounds?
  19. I think it's a matter of knowing your ground. A mate and I always go together and always to the exact same spot, we always fish the same bait, Lugworm, although never find any in their bellies, it's usually shrimp, or peelers, but we can never catch them using these as bait. It's a hard walk out there and is only possible at low tide, and once you're there, you're stuck there until the next low tide. Last week we went out and there was a big flock of Terns diving just off the beach. We set up double time, and both caught two Bass each on our first cast, by casting into the shoal of baitfish. Then it went quiet for a bit and picked up after about an hour. We left in the morning with 29 Bass between us, a bloody heavy load to carry back across the channels and marsh.
  20. Put in an application for A WPG from FC. Once that's approved, you can do any work that's included in the plan, and you get an automatic 10 year felling license. Forestry Commission - Woodland Planning Grant
  21. I do a lot of Bass fishing at this time of year. I don't have any specialist kit for it and just use a carp rod and fixed spool. I only cast 20-30 yards, so no need for anything heavier. Do get some good hauls though.
  22. :thumbup1:
  23. Enfields, brains not what it was.
  24. Not a thing (hope she lets the odd tool or toy slip through the net though.
  25. Apparently, EVA is more stable when subjected to variations in heat, and when cured it off gasses less than PVA, It is also (theoretically) reverseable after curing as it can be released with water. Can't really see how that's a good thing, but she seems to think that PVA will let go anyway when wetted, but with EVA you can just reclamp it and it'll stick again, whereas PVA won't ( I think).
