  1. The idler on my TD5 Defender has started making a squeaking noise when cold. It goes away after a few miles driving. Any ideas on a fix, or do I need a new one? Cheers.

  3. Yep, this was a .325. Never had it happen before though. Mind you, I do tend to be a bit fussy over dressing my bar. It gets done at the end of every day, or the next morning if I'm feeling pissed of, knackered, cold at the end of the day. Or if I get an invite to the pub.
  4. Just had the nose sprocket on a nearly new 15" Huskie bar break up whilst using it. I had just dressed the bar and greased the sprocket about an hour beforehand. Thankfully the chain seems to have kept everything in the bar, which now has a big bulge in it and the chain is knackered. Anyone else ever had this happen? Any idea of a cause?
  5. I use propeller on my saws, boots and tyres when working on sites infected with Chalara, phytophthora, etc.
  6. Got Terra Firma Big Bore shocks and springs (blue ones, can't remember what they are) on my 90. Very good, if a little firm.

    Dartmoor.

I was working in and around Yarna Woods. Not the heart of the Moor, but lovely. Like I said, you guys are very lucky. The weather was surprisingly good, it only rained most days.

    Dartmoor.

Just got back from a very pleasant couple of weeks working on Dartmoor. You West Country boys really are very lucky. Can't quite get over how many Arb trucks there where driving about though. Must be loads of garden work down there.

  11. If you're making a claim anyway. Personally, I'd find it hard to trust any of that kit again.
  12. Found this on fleabay. Vintage Stihl 070 Petrol Chainsaw, 25" Bar, (075,076,084,088,090, MS660, MS880) | eBay
  13. Those blades look fine to me. Got years left in them.
  14. I regularly see Heritage vehicles on the road and they never fail to impress.
  15. Looks a bargain to me, especially if the mileage is genuine, but for the same money you could get a good TD5, and I know which I'd rather have for everyday use.

  17. It's the Express. They run this story at the same time every year.
  18. No deterrent really is it? Good on you though.
  19. Mrs Chewbacca I assume.
  20. That's just showing off!
  21. I can concur with the heaters (although I prefer a TD5 myself). As long as you accept that the heater has only an on/off switch. Any notion of control beyond this is sheer fantasy.
  22. Christ, that's depressing. 10 years, 2 extra chins and 2 extra stones. I gotta go on a diet man.
  23. Agreed, but nothing off-roads like a defender.
  24. Sorry, didn't work at all. One's then, the other now. Either way never did have as much style as the the missus or the dog.
  25. Used to look like this. Now look like this
