  1. There was a thread a while ago asking for pictures of your other halves, and I did look at it. It was all well and good, but a bit unsatisfactory. It did get me wondering, who are these people and what do they do. I've been with Bid for 14 years now and we have 3 kids. Mungo, Lola and Tilly. Not only is she a fantastic mother, but a very talented craftswoman. She is a Book-binder and conservator, specialising in making bespoke enclosures for old and important objects, some of which are deeply cool (I've had the boots that Hillary wore to climb Everest in my house). She can make a m2 box out of millboard that I (15 st) can stand on and it won't collapse. She is also a qualified Tool-maker, which I find very handy and sharpens tools way better than I can, let her loose with a knife and her Tormek and the results are scary sharp. So come on big up your missus here.
  2. I thought it was the campers, or is that Mexico? Anyway I think they are made under license, bit like BSA's in India.
  3. Very nice, and an interesting thread. As a complete dullard when it comes to working with wood I stand in awe at those who can do this stuff (my brother is very good, but too stoned to bother most of the time). Can I ask, why the differences in spacing and sizes on your dovetails? Oh, and my missus (who is more practical than most), says "would there be any benefits to you, using EVA rather than PVA. She uses it a lot and swears by it.
  4. I'm sorry, I know we all have different tastes an all, but you couldn't give me one of those things. Damn, wasn't going to say anything.
  5. I have a big butt I'm going to start milling in October. Not sure of the size as I haven't measured it yet, but if I stand on one side I can't see over the top. I'm a long way off, but do make regular trips down to the Henley/Twyford area, so could drop some off.
  6. Can't see too many Jap 4x4's getting to those sorts of milages (with the possible exception of the good old Land Cruiser).
  7. That is pretty hopeful. Take off as much weight as possible and then winch it back. Hard to say though, without actually standing on the ground.
  8. Anachronism. Funny name for a king I know.
  9. Oh god, more hankies.
  10. Nice to see someones wife bothered with the pelvic floor exercises after giving birth.
  11. I'm saying nothing.
  12. I do like think thread. It's the sillyness of it I think.
  13. FR Jones.
  14. Can't argue with that. We've got a solar farm going through the planning stages just round the corner, on an abandoned airfield, and I think it's great. The company have offered to pay £25,000 (index linked) a year to the local community for the life of the project (25 years), and that is a lot of money to a small Norfolk hamlet. Gonna stay well away from the debates about how the money gets spent though.
  15. Where's me hankies?
  16. I don't have any problem with them. Just the stupid places people put them (eg. see OP).
  17. Drop the tree onto the panels.

    Damn!

Clearly Marmite vehicles. I must say that my Defender is no more or less reliable than any other car I've owned (with the exception of a V6 4motion Passat I once owned, which was absolutely bulletproof), and as others have said, gets worked every day, often on pretty challenging ground. I've had jap 4x4's which were worse if I'm honest, and as stated earlier, when it comes to getting you there, nothing can touch a Defender (not even a G-wagon).
  19. Might hold em up for a bit.

    Damn!

Had a s2 Discovery. My mates used to call it the Recovery.
  21. Bren.

    Damn!

 I like to think of mine the same way as I do the missus. Very high maintenance, but worth every moment of my time, money and indulgence.
  22. Bren.

    Damn!

Happy to say that neither of those ailments apply to mine (yet).

    Damn!

Horses for courses. I seem to spend a lot of time fixing it, but when I get to work, I get a ten minute fag break while I watch the other guys carrying their kit to the job because their jap pickups can't get them in. If only they didn't break so much.
