    Damn!

Having just spent 2 days replacing the thrust bearing on my Defender, I now have a nagging feeling that I forgot to pack it with grease.:cursing:
  2. Toyota did a landcruiser that looked similar. Still see lots of them when I go to Australia. I don't think they were ever sold over here, but I would love one. The older ones were much cooler though.
  3. Yes you might hurt yourself, but a chainsaw + no ppe + no training can easily = death. Not likely with a Skilsaw.
  4. Squillions? I don't think so. It's very rare that I see a home user wearing ppe, or using cuts suitable to the task in hand, and saw maintenance is laughable. The vast majority of home users are nothing like safe.
  5. I would have more sympathy for this policy IF Stihl (and others) would stop selling chainsaws to untrained homeowners, or at least refuse to sell a saw unless you had ppe. Dealers won't sell you a top handled saw unless you can show them you have a ticket for it, imo you shouldn't be allowed to buy any saw unless you can prove you have been trained to use it, but then I suspect that 171/181's make up the bulk of their sales. A chainsaw is about the most dangerous tool you can buy, and to sell them to anyone who fancies one is, I think, verging on the criminally irresponsible.
  6. Bushnell, it says so in the bottom left corner of the pics.
  7. The old bill have GOT to know this lot. I assume they have copies. Although knowing their attitude to the "wandering" community, they'll come up with some excuse as to why the photos "don't actually show them commiting a crime sir, sorry, nothing we can do".
  8. Damn fine woods those, not one in that list I'd disagree with.
  9. I completely agree, which is why I tend not to holiday in Norfolk. As soon as I cross the border I feel the sense of differentness. The great big black ribbons of tarmac called Motorways (apparently), the way people seem to be speaking a different language and are always late for something (just had to look up the meaning of the word late as it doesn't exist in the Norfolk vocabulary). I also strongly suspect that people outside Norfolk may be of a different sub-species to us, they never seem to have enough fingers or toes. Anyway eventually I find myself in France and get down to my prefered region of the Auvergne. All is well, cos it's just like home really. The people and attitudes are much the same, the food is, well, it's different. Tasty though. I love that when I go to get pain-au-chocolat in the mornings, I can get a really good cup of coffee and a brandy in the bar next door, and no one bats an eyelid.
  10. Link?
  11. Cheers, my mate has just done his DSC with a borrowed .270 and he came back with some very positive things to say about them.
  12. Sorry, not a pop at you. Do wonder if they've ever sold any though.
  13. But it could have been stolen from anywhere. Just saying.
  14. Speaking of Tax. Where's the 200 years of tea tax you lot owe us. Cash only, no cheques.
  15. Those prices take the P***. They want stupid money for a one use item. Make your own for pennies.
  16. Been offered a V6 cozzie lump to go in my Defender. Anyone done it? How was it?
  17. Why IOW, could have come from anywhere.
  18. Heck I'm from Norfolk too, but I need all six of my fingers. Don't think I could play my Banjo right with any less.

  20. I'll shoot a couple a season, one each for me and the missus. I'm the same with Hare, I'll only shoot one if I want to eat it.
  21. I hadn't seen it before.
  22. Seems you can do it in a landie. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PS0eRmfOuo]Forward Control Land Rover Burnout - YouTube[/ame]

  24. Reconyx sell the best one for security. Totally "Black" flash (no red glow). Outstanding picture quality. I think that they are the only ones that will capture a number plate as well. Expensive though.
