    What!

Thank you all for your input, very helpful. I've been doing this stuff for them for a few years now, but this is the first time they've asked for this. My degree is in Ecology, so I like to think that I'm pretty genned up on this sort of stuff. Never thought of putting it on a tender though. Cheers.
  2. I made a drying locker for my kit. Roller front locker with one of those oil filled radiators inside. Clothes hang above the rad and boots go under. works lovely, but a spin cycle first really helps. Plus I love the feeling of putting on gear that's all lovely and warm in the morning.

    What!

I was wondering if I could tell them I will be arriving on Horseback. Sorry Eddie, It's more of an inventory than a survey. Going through the wood, mapping and measuring every tree and coppice stool, assessing and identifying moss and lichen coverage and ground flora. Also looking for signs of Chalara and taking soil pH and moisture measurements, mapping brash piles and standing dead wood, ponds, banks, etc.

    What!

Lovin the look of Telula Dean. I'm sensing a new arb truck coming on (just for the NE jobs though).

    What!

All great suggestions Eddie. Did I mention this was for a survey?
  6. Funny aint it. I constantly get the hump with people who don't put up some kind of location on their profile, and then ask a location specific question. Then a thread like this comes up.

    What!

This is Natural England. They'll want to know what species and if the stock is genetically compatible with the area.

    What!

My point is...................... I have no bloody idea how to reduce my "footprint" beyond saying I'll walk to the job.

    What!

Just been invited to quote for a contract for Natural England, and this has been requested. Anyone done one of these before? "Transport As part of the procurement process contractors tendering for this project will be assessed upon their sustainability policies relating to transport, energy consumption and waste. Copies of any policies relating to these areas of sustainability should be provided at the time of tendering. Details of how the contractor intends to reduce the environmental impact of delivering this contract specifically should also be included. This is support of Natural England’s corporate target to maintain halving our carbon emissions, relative to 2007 levels, since 2010." I should state that this is for an ongoing survey, which I started last year. Basically this means, no use of any machinery, beyond a vehicle to get me to site every day.
  10. I'd go for three legs myself.
  11. Why ain't I surprised?
  12. That'll be the one by the A47 flyover will it?
  13. I can only assume that his English is excellent.
  14. It's not a question of it making me feel better. It makes me feel a lot worse. The fact is, there are as many native cowboys out there as there are foreign born ones. Some of us just seem to be blinkered to the idea though.
  15. Might be interested, but I'm away until the end of the first week in Sept. I'll PM you when I get back. I'm near Fakenham.
  16. Cos there are no Anglo- Saxon English people who do this? What really Grind my gears, is that you probably won't get a ban for your bigotry. I, on the other hand, would almost certainly get one for pointing out out that you are a racist. Ah well, No worries, I'm off to France this week. When my family arrived here we didn't speak much English, but the fact was if we hadn't escaped from Brittany when we did, the the Nazi's would almost certainly have tortured and killed my Grandfather and his family. I would never have been born, and you would have been pleased, because our English wasn't good. By the way, 6 members of my family where killed by the Germans because they fought for the resistance during the war. Still, it don't matter, none of them spoke English, and they had no regard whatsoever for health and safety.
  17. Minimum payment for a Management plan is £1000. Anyone charging you more than that, for this size of wood, is a crook, and with some input from your local FC guy, should be something you can do yourself.
  18. I'm sorry, but do I understand you correctly? You place a value on a persons well being based on their command of the English language?
  19. Legacy is the new one.
  20. Just buried her dad. Her strength and dignity astound me.
  21. Just watched "The place beyond the pines". Really good.
  22. Took me 5 hours once, to cover the 30 miles to university. When I got there, they'd closed the place due to the snow. Took me another 5 hours to drive home again.
  23. NEVER, give up.
  24. and the people who buy from them.
  25. Yes, but the 110 must weigh an awful lot more. Can carry a lot more too, so less trips.
