  1. I want a pair of those spikes I would have thought the stays take the pressure and twist off your ankles and probably just fold back so you can walk in them
  2. None of the formulas will work only experience will give you a rough idea as you can allow for at least some of the variables that effect growth IMO For example do the formulas work for bonsia ?
  3. Using the pulley for a slack tender is far more energy saving than using it to reduce the friction of the ring.
  4. IMO something like this would be a better use of the items you have
  5. A tree of that size in a garden has got to have foreign bodies in it so I would use the longest bar you've got and have a few spare chains to hand just incase you hit Metal or stone. It wouldnt be cost effective to buy a bar and at least 2 chains just to save a bore cut IMO
  6. Yeah thats them I bought the complete wheel ready to go with a spare set of teeth and postage for £520 all in. The Vermeer set up has 16 cutters and 8 pockets the Mult-tip has only 6 but a total of 24 cutters, so it should be smooth and at just over £60 I can have a brand new set of teeth thats just over £2 per cutter tip
  7. Why not add a slack tender Johny? you'll be cooking with gas then old chum
  8. Hi all! searched Multi-tip on the forum and found very little info about the system, so I have taken the plunge and ordered the wheel and a spare set of cutters to replace the pro teeth on the Vermeer 252. Ill let you know My findings I just hope after the all the research I have made the right decision
  9. Well then Elfin you were wrong! it could'nt have been the do as you likeys if the police have made arrests
  10. Im was one of the "Its over priced, I'll build My own" Brigade but I did My sums and worked out I was easier to buy one and crack on. I have'nt had any problems and In the short time I've had it its been spot on and used on nearly every job. I would nt be with out it
  11. a Bog roll in the hand is worth 2 in the bushes

  16. How about a U.M.M
  17. Ok for touching the teeth up on site but will not be as exact as a bench grinder with a green wheel.
  18. Good tip that and one I should remember Im guilty of doing all the tool work because it pains Me to watch people that are slow because of a lack of experience. Its a vicious circle and one I should break as it would pay off in the end to let the guys build up there experience and thus the speed they can work at. My tip is to put family first and work second
  19. My old man got a tractor stuck in the woods! with no other vehicle to pull it out, He tied one end of a lenght of rope to a tree and rapped the other end around a drive shaft or hub "I cant remember which" and then engaged a gear and pulled himself out I love a good bodge any mug can ring the AA or get on the phone and order a part but I get a warm feeling when I manage to make do and mend. Good thread by the way
