  1. We have been using the Harkie for 4 months now and its certainly the best we've come across, far better than Stein and orange is definetly the colour for arb work and cheaper than cut and climb.
  2. Like it, and hope to carve something similar one of these days. what tune is he playing?
  3. Which Western Isle are you on?
  4. Great bit of kit, use ours most days for 1 job or another. Have been looking for a replacement head but appears they have to come from Australia. Lecky guys not allowed to use them anymore in this area anyway.
  5. Thanks Steve, will post pictures soon as the weather is suitable to show of nice livery, don't want it getting wet. Can you make my post more prominent. regards Roni.
  6. Amazing surprise! Delivery van arrives and procedes to unload large heavy box. Could not understand what. Checked delivery details. All correct for here. Took into workshop still puzzled. Checked details again, began to unpack and what a surprise; beautifully presented Stein arbor trolley. Still puzzled as had no notification of this item then panicked thinking I might receive a hefty bill. Was there some mistake. What a relief, after scrolling through Arbtalk, to discover I was the lucky winner of this prestigious prise. Will be good for handling carving logs. THANKS ARBTALK>
  7. Hi, we are in the Oban area. Roni/Chris. RM Tree Services. Don't go as far as Kintyre but have heard of someone in the Tarbert area..
  8. A large block of wood with a dowel between it and the piece. no chance of chain damage.
  9. great for spending a long time in. It is a rigid seat which catches a lot in hairy spruce.
  10. fantastic bench and a man with style.
  11. choker your climbing line round stem using bowline with a long tail for retrieval and descend on your normal friction hitch backed up with a figure 8 as you are descending a single line. the tail of the bowline must be long enough to reach from ground. or use a cambium with an adjustable prussic that will tighten on to any stem.
  12. Certainly waterproof, comfortable with good grip, don't know about extra plate, has to be removed for most tree work and screws are pretty crap, quite bulky.
  13. It is so the groundie can leave a tail for the climber to reach remote from anchor, attach to limb, pull up to traxion, lock then lower to wherever.
  14. use as a traxion to allow plenty slack when away from anchor point and locks load for descent, prussic does the same in reverse.
  15. our system works well. use fiddle block or grigri to tension/loosen main line.
  16. Check out the Norson splice, does not require much equip. Don't know if it is acceptable in the Arb world but appears a strong splice.
  17. Apparently no replacement saws available at present.
  18. try a shopping trolley, good sized wheels and yet light.
