  1. We bought 1 couple of month back. Not used it a lot but certainly did a good job on the 20 or so stumps done to date. Possibly a bit lacking in the depth you can grind to but I would certainly say value for money.
  2. I spent about 3 hours on this, lovely piece of cedar, nice to carve.
  3. Had to work hard on Saturday in the wind and rain to produce this present.
  4. nice piece, like it a lot. good to see different ideas.
  5. Marcus and Kirsty are still in Inveraray and Marcus works on the Duke of Argyll's estate. Could possibly be contacted there.
  6. Nativity scene; Jesus @ 3', to be added to yearly.
  7. I've found that any form of wood cutting/carving is best done while the wood is fresh, easier on cutting equipment and cedar is one of the nicest to carve. Willow and chestnut are nice to carve but have limited longevity.
  8. nice piece, am hoping to attempt an idea I have for thistle carve if I get a chance. Will post if it turns out OK.
  9. I have made several reasonable "best offers" on this company's small saws to have them counter offer with virtually no reduction over their "buy it now" price and they would not inform me of any additional costs.
  10. been using Echo 2600 and Zenoah G2500 for years now, both great wee saws. Was misled by advertised weight of Hitachi recently, piece of crap. Use 335/338 for larger stuff, notice big difference in weight.
  11. nice, I've done several similar with salmon in weed.
  12. I had the same problem with my replacement 560. I checked the obvious and could find nothing wrong. It appears it was a priming problem solved by using thinner oil for a period then gradually returning to non-fling oil although I often use a mix. Worth a try.
  13. check Alice Buttress post on carving post forum.
  14. It certainly appears to give higher revs and I guess in a part worn saw that could cause problems but what evidence there is I don't know.
  15. All carvers are offered 1 can Aspen free, not all like to use it as apparently increases engine revs and can possibly cause damage. I use it there and no problems.
