  1. I am finding NFU very expensive aswell but having a local office always seems worth a bit extra especially when changing vehicles, drivers etc. I did query my last quote and eventually they reduced it by a reasonable amount. Worth a try.
  2. try changing the plug, backfiring sounds electrical.

    346xp

I bought 1 on ebay, £65, 3 months later plug blew out. Am now in dispute with supplier, not hopeful of mutual agreement. Will post outcome as and when.
  4. try Gavin Macdonald (Green Cut) on 07766 541414.
  5. If you fancy Argyll I'll get info for you.
  6. available and not expensive having slight mod to prevent coming loose, from husky dealers.
  7. both 357 & 346 are professional saws with fast acceleration, both superb. the 350 is probably more suitable for occasional use, again a good saw used in the right situations.
  8. Remember spalted beech is highly carcinogenic.
  9. Spalting in decaying trees, particularly Beech and Sycamore is apparently highly carcinogenic.
  10. What size of bar and which tip, dime or quarter? I can't see it heating the bar and tip any more than plunge cutting etc. It will be interesting to see if 1/4 can stand the power of the 346xp. Certainly not reccomended by uncle Ed.
  11. Have you considered Cobra bracing system, much less damage to the tree.
  12. Tie off as you say with fig 8 hard lock, very easy to control. I assume you mean the fig 8 is the descender device or do you have some other device for descending SRT.?
  13. Go for a long one and make it adjustable with a prussik and ring. easier to retreive than double rapping.
  14. Always nice to have some extra.
  15. oooooooooooops, just as well I read the replys, meant 50m, 150ft. sorry.
  16. been using 150m 11mm static LSK for 3 yrs. no problems. Only use when best for access.Best to get long enough to be lowered by groundsman in an emergency.
  17. Yes, soft or hard but must be seasoned so probably have to think 18 to 24 months in advance although I have heard that 25% moisture content is acceptable on these boilers.
  18. Interesting and different. "Art is the artists interpretation of a particular subject." Keep on carving.
  19. Has not been used for a long time, I have new skyline but suspect all other wires would need replaced. Just testing the water to see if its worth spending a bit of time on. Ironically, just looked at a small contract it might be the ideal equipment for. Will keep you posted.
  20. just googled it; you tube "small tractor driven timber skyline"
  21. it is a Mini Alp trailer skyline with mechanical skyline and igland winches. Will get some pics soon.
  22. Anybody use skyline winches any more. I have an old one i should probably get rid off; sell. Anyone interested? Full details and pictures on request.
