  1. Here’s one we did last July on a very wet day. had to walk the crane in on mats. 8 wheel Mercedes 50 tonner. crane company said it was the lowest ground pressure unit they had . brought the timber out with Valtra/crane and trailer on the mats also with no damage.

    Tw230

Green trimmings might fall short sometimes if not much stemmy woody stuff with them or if wet but most material will hit the headboard no problem (11 foot long body)

    Log Trolley

I made my own, all the bits materials etc probably cost €250ish (I did use wider tyres) took me a few evenings.(I enjoy making stuff) it’s super strong but heavy compared to the factory made ones. 400 is not a lot if you get the use out of it, and if you do lots of domestic work ,you will
  4. I used a tracked one and owned a 328 for around 6 years which is very similar size to 340 (I don’t know what’s difference between) Good solid machine, no major breakdowns while we had it and it’s still going strong for current owners. must have 4000 hours on it by now. good on woody stuff, a bit annoying the way small branches stick on the left hand side and a little bit high for feeding. lads always preferred feeding tw230 for most stuff unless too big or woody
  5. Bark is all intact. Just loss of foliage. trees are adjacent and down hill from a sheep dipping tank, could run off of sheep dip be a possibility?
  6. There’s a 200 an either Arbbay or Treebay groups on arsebook
  7. Thanks, I’ve often seen on pines but never noticed on spruce before
  8. My 10inch Jensen runs fine at 900rpm pto speed on a 95 horsepower Valtra or 100 horsepower Claas. might go to 950 for big material or can run as low as 750 for small. parameters on the no stress can be set at whatever rpm you want on Jensen, I don’t know about other makes
  9. Hi. anybody know what’s killing there trees, mainly Sitka spruce and some Scots pine. blueish stain inside bark.
  10. Used a makita battery blower last week , very impressed by the power of it. battery life at full power not great but would rarely need to run at full. guy who owns it has lots of makita stuff
  11. I’m not sure that there is any adjustment. our use very little oil but chain seems to get just about enough
  12. We had to leave a job 3 times last year where the landowner was not happy with terms of CPO on strip of ground for new road junction. he kept entering site despite court order. we were subby to civils contractors who give us a lot of work and are always prompt to pay. we had work nearby to go to each time we were stopped and lost very little time in reality but civils contractor insisted we got paid time for mobilising all equipment from home each time.
  13. They put small cable tie on gate or railing of property where they spot valuable dog. Then come back later to steal. the traveller gangs are more efficient at planning than the best utility companies

    Zenoah 2500T

Isn’t there a husky version of that ? ive got one in the shed. great little thing but oiler adjustment screw would turn up or down when running . probably a simple fix.
  18. On my machine (microbull) I could fit valve just out from hyd couplings and would be within reach. (I think)
  19. I’ve been toying with the idea of fitting a “float valve “ to allow rotator to follow when dragging long stuff.
