  1. Nice! I was expecting a Suburu
  2. There used to be lots ofiJap imports over here. Never heard anything negative except sometimes headlamps etc might be different. I still see quite a few 7 seaters around. Asians seem to like them
  3. Nice! Do you have to drop the dozer blade behind you for tree this big?
  4. That rake must be a godsend for dead ash debris! are those haybob tines on it?
  5. I’ve had 572 for over 2 years with no issues. Only use my bigger saws (661) for the longer bars
  6. I don’t mind what time anybody rings up to ten o clock weekdays , 4 o clock Saturdays and I’d rather no Sunday calls. Of course I’ll take emergency calls from regulars anytime. lt does piss me off when people call late saying they think it would be a good time to get me as they know he busy I am, as if small business owners should be on call for them 24/7. I generally text back politely requesting them to call anytime after 7 Monday morning unless it’s an emergency . it’s kind of our own fault if we answer calls out of hours and they turn to be assholes.
  7. The comment that most bores me is when random person ask am I busy with work , I say yes, if it’s winter they will say: “it’s an Ill wind…!..”. and laugh at their own super clever comment that nobody has ever used before. If it’s summer they will say : “ well, trees are always growing! “ and laugh at their other super clever comment.
  8. I didn’t have anyone with me to see, Thanks
  9. Brakes on my 6400 are barely working since last couple of hours of last job before holidays. not losing fluid, left pedal goes straight to the floor, right pedal poor but not as bad. do both slave cylinders usually fail at same time? Seems to have gotten bad all of a sudden . today was the first chance I had to take a look, the only thing I could notice was that flexible pipes from reservoir to both slave cylinders look kinked and collapsed. Any theories? Thanks
  10. Attach cable to tree or stump, drive until drum is empty, winch yourself back in , use foot brake to add tension. User manual says to do this regularly, it won’t remove kinks completely but does make a big improvement.
  11. I’ve had 2 pairs of Andrews and will buy another. Comfy straight away and will last about a year and a half for me. Mixture of mewp, ground, spiking,Climbing
  12. Two jobs this week where our own grinder would not fit so hired a tracked Bandit for a day . 40 horsepower, great machine. first job had doorstep poking into passage leaving 75cm, second was 33inches with two really tight bends, just about squeezed through.
  13. West coast is nice to live in if you don’t mind the extra rainfall, the tree works can be quite spread out. since COVID , rural houses are in high demand, houses that were for sale for a long time have been sold in the last year and prices have risen sharply.
  14. I’m in west. where are you hoping to move to ?
  15. I think they did really well sound engineer let them down a bit. Great effort , just needs mixing
  16. You will need the aerial rescue for working on a two man crew. I’ve worked with some super groundies who don’t like climbing, happier on the ground and often more focused on their roles than some climbers who would prefer being up the trees.
  17. I agree. You wouldn’t safety pull anything substantial without being tied back , 700kg machine is not much of an anchor anyway. with winch/mounting plate tied back (properly for angles of pull) stresses should not be on hitch/machine. Also need good understanding of winching and limits of what can be safely attempted.
  18. Looks really well built. was hoping to get similar built for some river jobs where nothing else will fit. does the fairlead allow you to pull at a high angle (30 degrees ish ) ? for pulling over trees or pulling through pulley in tree. would have serious pulling power when tied back. Handy in lots of situations.
  19. For tie backs , I’d say.
  20. Nice! is there ash dieback over there?
  21. I think they have to replace line from house to pole with box on if broken or damaged. Not cost effective to repair. not cheap I’d say
  22. Company (in Ireland) that I bought my cabstar/mewp from has given me ballpark quote to remount on a newer cabstar , repipe, new electrics and replace pins & bushes : €12k I would think refitting to mog would be more expensive. Whoever would design/fabricate the remount would have to be approved by CTE I would think.

    Jokes???

    So true!
  24. I think I read somewhere (or maybe I made it up 😃, I like mewps ) that there are more tree work accidents with mewps because so many amateurs hire them for diy tree work. Sometimes they are safer and faster sometimes they are not and shouldn’t be there. A lot of the dead ash crowns we’ve cut lately from mewp, there’s no way I’d climb into them.
  25. Friend of mine had one, got rid of because very heavy on fuel
