  1. I’d say probably drive alongside if possible, so easier to move along. worth studying chart that shows reach/outreach
  2. Tyres not great. Had to put tubes in each of them
  3. Got audited here a few years ago and revenue contested my travel expenses. had 3 work vehicles. Wasn’t running family car from business apart from fuel when used for pricing etc. they pretty much tried to bully us into owning up to loads of private use( that never happened) we stood our ground , eventually they accepted on condition that going forward we deduct 20% for private use. works fine because can now claim for everything. Crew cabs are flavor of the month over here at the moment for attention from law, vat etc
  4. I would totally agree. 15k will buy a good Jeep that will do 5 years with little depreciation. i would only borrow 30k or more for machinery that will earn me money, or towards land or buildings or home improvements. When the tough spells of work and cash flow hit, much better to be scraping towards worthwhile assets. bank interest and depreciation are real costs just like tax is. you rarely see accountants with brand new cars.
  5. Sounds cheap. There Must be a catch?
  6. Pics !! ?
  7. He’s been on DoneDeal for a while now. You’d imagine someone would have had him checked out at this stage.
  8. Simple physics really. dead timber. Fibres have lost tensile strength. One side of hinge weaker than the other. Can go sideways?
  9. I’ve just sold my 328 tracked chipper and would agree with bigtreedon . Also at 2600kgs it’s a bit of a pig to tow. great for leylandi take downs and woody stuff and great for pulling over trees. for brash and bushy stuff we we’re finding TW230 better and more user friendly ( haven’t used first)
  10. Well, there’s free beer in letterfrack, galway every time Harry Kane scores. its where his grandfather came from.
  11. Pretty mullered! machine has done 3800 hours , I would suspect they may have been ground back before I got it and I have sharpened them a fair few times. thanks
  12. Hi. anyone know approx cost of new feed rollers for A328? Or, con old set be refurbished ? thanks
  13. Flat here. i get mine sharpened by saw doctor at large sawmill. hollow ground definitely chip better but don’t stay sharp as long. after half a days chipping, no difference imo. also, with flat ground there’s less ground off to get sharp again as edge not as easily damaged.
  14. Yes. We get a lot of rain but it’s nice when the sun shines
  15. Maumturk mountains ,Connemara
  16. Lough Corrib , Galway Ireland ??
  17. Nice views from the office today
  18. Can you fit that grinder to a mini digger?
  19. One lucky postbox ?
  20. A change is as good as a rest!
  21. Yes. Open grab is a must ?
  22. That’s some tractor to have running what is essentially (no offense meant to farmi) an entry level fuelwood chipper. those Farmis are pretty poor at Leylandis or brashly stuff, it’s really not what they are designed for. with 170 horsepower plus ,you have a wide choice of chippers to choose from. depends on budget , size and type of jobs available to make it viable. we run a crane fed Jensen on a valtra/ roofmount botex set-up ( Tom d,s old tractor) it has its limits but it allows us to take on good size jobs with a small crew without anybody being over worked. Also it doesn’t take a huge nod to make it worthwhile. We also use a mini-digger to handball stuff to within reach of the crane on tight sites. As others have said , how it’s prepared is the key, the more timber going in with the brash the better chance of the rollers pulling it in. It takes a bit of trial and error to get the preparation right (in the beginning we tended to over- trim). Also it takes a while to get efficient at feeding the chipper
  23. We got some cheap ones on amazon and they work very well. i can’t think of the make but it begins with B. €75 per pair
  24. Nice! More photos please?
  25. Never again! Unsafe and not fit for purpose in my opinion. Also,in the extra time it takes to sharpen one for the first time, you would easily earn the price of of a proper chain.
