  1. Strong southerly gusts (we usually get from south west) and very heavy showers. managed to fell large side leaning pine I had been putting off for ages. had winch line set up and strongest gusts came just as windguru.cz said they would.
  2. Ours was on an old Volvo . Worse again. Current owner “trailerised” it and pulls it behind large tractor.
  3. I think I remember being sent the info on that from Coillte at the time. looked like a good setup
  4. Watched that video. Takes me back. We ran an AT 650 from 98 to 03. felling the trees was the nicest part
  5. Nice! The little chipper doesn’t look too happy
  6. Fair enough . Thanks
  7. I had one of those trailers til some scumbag stole it. Used to toe with ball on blade of mini digger and use bucket or grab if fitted to tip. Never bothered with the hoist thingy. worked well on a few jobs. tyres aren’t too good. When you take a tight turn with a good load on, chances are tyre would pop off rim. Had to put tubes in to solve.
  8. Sorry for derail. Hi Connor. Do you have a farmi 260? ive never seen one working.
  9. Great tool. I tried an Italian Arvipo one. worked great until west of Ireland dampness took its toll
  10. Might be worth contacting the Coillte (Irish forestry board) training center in Mountrath, Ireland. some of their older instructors might know of contractors with discarded machines or there may be some of their fitters with knowledge Re part origins
  11. We have 572 for a few weeks and like it. 372 is a great saw but 572 feels like it has more torque.
  12. I’d say there are bound to be a few timbermasters parked up both UK and Ireland. might be worth placing want ad in Forest Machine Journal or some of the Facebook groups, and Arbtrader on here. small scale skyline work is rarely viable over here as rates and timber value are relatively low, and it’s very hard.work. Have to say have found A&B good to deal with. best of luck
  13. Thanks mike. these are both pto machines. i though the 340 succeeded the 328 but I’m seeing 2015 328 on mascus.
  14. Any body know what’s the difference between a Jensen 340 and 328 ? Thanks

    bamboo

I’ve never chipped much bamboo but chipped misccanthus for a day once and blades were totally blunt after
  16. They seem good value so long as they are not rusty underneath. Maybe factor in £1.5 to £2k for faults repairs etc , just in case. Very handy work vehicle

    The BIG C .

    Sorry to hear.
  18. White top cover ?
  19. I think there was a good thread about forestry winches a few months ago. krpan would be a good winch with that size of tractor. I wouldn’t go back to manual. Worth going for remote control
  20. Love those programs. There was a whole series of them on different crafts and trades. late 70s I’d say
  21. ?silky is always on
  22. Yes ,run down is faster and they don’t seem to kick back as badly but I think what’s dangerous practice with a fast chainsaw is also dangerous with a slow one. I think it’s like the old Probability versus Severity matrix
  23. I find the the lack of noise makes me subconsciously not think of it as a chainsaw so I’m tempted to do cuts I should be doing with the silky. i expect there to be more “cutting and holding “ accidents because of this and that they are so well balanced for one handed used
  24. Agreed! We have the husqvarna. Great for pruning thinning etc and nice not having to pull to start is nice. once you go into 4 inch or bigger, gets too slow.
  25. Haven’t had Isuzu long but I think better on fuel. Seems to be the same and drive the same well loaded as empty
