  1. it is a twin roller is it not?
  2. Looks a good machine, you'll fill the Landy in 2 minutes with that!
  3. Yeah, reading glasses, I was in denial for a couple of years but now I have them I find my saws seem sharper!
  4. What's wrong with jeans?
  5. This thread's knocking on a bit Guy, how did you happen upon this?
  6. Thanks for making the effort to post these pics Silky, lots of us who cannot go to these things appreciate it!
  7. I use leather one from DIY shops etc. summer and winter, not too thick though as has been said, they last a couple of weeks if they don't get too wet. The best I've ever used are the branded stihl ones but way too pricey.
  8. Maybe if you'd stopped running around taking photos all the time you might have done it in two days! (Joking btw)
  9. if we are talking about finger teeth I stopped using the straights years ago. Never really noticed any difference, Good tip though.
  10. Interesting question on modern etiquette, I think for emails etc 3G is enough. Its not like having a dump in their bog but still a bit too familiar!
  11. Ok so how much for the whole kit and kaboodle delivered out here? ( pm if you'd prefer)
  12. Saturn machine knives, definitely use them for blades, good quality.
  13. Understood, and if,and when! I get a new machine I'll get the new teeth, but it's doesn't seem worth changing them on an existing machine. For me anyway. I would have to buy new pockets as well wouldn't I ?
  14. 3 anvils? I reckon the belts are standard, get the numbers and take them to an agricultural engineers. Same goes for filters.
  15. Well you've got a plan, that's the important thing! you're definitley not too old at 28, I started at 30 and am still at it 20 years later. Be aware there are a lot of colleges training people so there's rather a glut ATM. There is no reason why you shouldn't achieve everything on the list.
  16. I don't think it would be worth much, it's not that old really or rare. 100 quid maybe, could be wrong though.
  17. Cheers Ty, Finger teeth do snap a bit but at 3 quid a pop it's no big problem. Easy to change also. So durability is a side issue, It's their superioity (Or otherwise) to finger teeth I wanted to gauge.
  18. Great info! (liquid lunch?)
  19. Thanks a lot, as I suspected:001_smile:
  20. Congratulations! Hard work and sacrifice do pay off. Just goes to show "You gotta have a plan"
  21. Thanks for the feedback Hodge. I suppose before investing a few squid I want to hear stuff like "Awesome!" or "Seems to add 5 horsepower to your machine" that sort of thing. I am still not quite convinced
  22. I have a Rayco 1625 and it's been a good grinder. I'd like to up the amount of grinding I do compared to tree surgery, ('cos it's dead easy and pays well!) One day I'd like to trade up but find that at the moment it does all I ask of it. I've always used finger teeth, they're cheap and easy to replace so I've not bothered to look into getting Green teeth. Here's my question, has anyone changed from one to t'other and noticed a tangible increase in speed/productivity? lots of peeps seem to swear by them but often they seem to have started with Green teeth so no comparisons.
  23. Looks like a "pull test" after that big Pop failure, they're doing all street trees in Richmond like that now. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. "dahn sarf"you mean? From an outsiders point of view that Pop was far too tall, I mean a pop of 70ft or one of 40, what's the diff from an amenity POV? from the pic David put up it was topped/pollarded/scalped whatever, why not do it a lot lower? Surely in that location it was never going to achieve veteran status or anything. Yes I know hindsight is always 40/40.
