  1. Is it a Sweet Chestnut?
  2. That thread on beech reduction jogged my memory onto this one. So, any results?
  3. 6am is far too early, 8 on a weekday and 9 on the weekend.
  4. On the Downs like that, beautiful location, you're a lucky man.
  5. Well I'm stumped! Is the machine new to you? Willow can be a pig spongy and fibrous, If the engine is running at the correct speed then the wheel should run at the correct speed. Can't do any better, sorry!
  6. Sorry mate, I've had one for a decade now and never had this issue, does the wheel falter and stop?, is there a squeaking/squealing noise? Try to explain exactly how this weakness manifests itself.
  7. Are all the belts ie v belt from clutch to drive wheel plus the poly drive in good nick and tight ( but not too tight!) does the wheel turn freely when machine is turned off?
  8. As an aside, a friend of mine has it on his land/riverbank and he says his sheep like to eat it.
  9. Odd........is the quick stop working? Are you sure the throttle is flat out?
  10. I'm with Rupe and Josh, fairly standard stuff for an experienced gang. Give 'em some old blather 'bout fungus'n'stuff, stick a grand on it, rattle it out by mid afternoon.
  11. John, let it go! You're becoming an obsessive.
  12. I really have no idea, am I working whilst mucking around in the barn with the machines? Sitting in the van on arbtalk? Or Like others have said, quoting? Tbh not very many real hours. On a related topic I am re roofing the barn ATM, there is always something to do then, no hanging around in a tree waiting for the groundy to untie the rope or standing in front of the chipper, very different work and very hard. (That's just compared to climbing btw) Plus there's no job and knock, just keep going hour after hour.
  13. Ha ha, well said!
  14. Too right!!! but tomorrow I'm seeing my Reflexologist, then Friday I'm having my roots done, so I'll have to take a rain check. Soz 'bout that:blushing:
  15. Yeah I know, everyone's rubbish except you.....(And me of course!)
  16. I know what you mean, but it does happen. Thing is I find with a wire core it does not snag on every noggin on the other side of the stem, and if it does its immediately obvious whereas rope can hang up and because of its softness you might not notice.
  17. There you are, John"ll do it, like he says climber, lorry, hiab, chipper, all done. Home in time for Neighbours.
  18. Hang on a bit it could range from light hearted teasing to haranguing. I suspect the OP is a big boy who can handle himself. I don't think the issue is the grief it's who uses them all the time and why.
  19. Depends on the grief you received, I love mine! Each to their own though.
  20. Just bought a 560! We'll see what happens.
  21. Shouldn't we all be running round in circles by now? screaming about foreign bio hazards eating the queen's swans or something! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Tirfor or similar will work, but its hard work! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Good idea! Then they might be a bit more careful with what went in!
  24. I cannot speak for Normandy, down here fires are ok but not if its dry between May and Oct,compared to the UK you can do what you want.
  25. It was a PITA! My old boss used a flat bed tranny and we had to stack it such a way that you could push it off (sometimes!) As time moved on he lost jobs because others used chippers and undercut him. Mind you the old sod would never listen to any new ideas. I try not to be like him!
