  1. I watched the first half then turned it off, it reminded me how rubbish the 70/80s was. Plus I love my ipad!
  2. I've just bought the fans for 150 quid the pair plus the bearings are standard at about 25 quid for 1 big and 2 little'uns. (plus a new anvil for 12 quid) 650 quid for 4 hours max?....... not for me to say.
  3. Two and a half hours max. (if you've done it before and no unforseen problems) Actually I'll qualify that; with two blokes, one of whom knows what he's doing, ie not me!
  4. I've got an engineer mate who is coming up, we've done it before to good effect. I would not attempt it on my own however.
  5. [QUOTE=Rich Rule;879985]If it is that light then surely you don't need any friction device. Or if you do then just use a natural crotch... Rope dependent of course. My thoughts exactly.
  6. Et voila, good shout. As likely as not the case.
  7. It's the chunks out of the fins cansing the rumble; unbalancing the wheel and mullering your bearings! change the fins AND the bearings at the same time. Doing mine Saturday for exactly the same reason.
  8. Blimey he only wants a job! that's going too far.
  9. :001_smile:Tidy
  10. Hi Darrin, Can I ask why use that square thingy? is it to add friction?
  11. Yes good point:confused1:Going to have a crack at it this weekend. Got to replace the fins on the TW first. Lot of spanners on the workshop floor atm!
  12. Oh right.
  13. Aha! glad this thread has resurrected. Now for me the main reason for buying one of these little beauties was to cut down the lifting/cutting on takedowns. Having had this thumb attached to my mini-digger I can honestly say that this does the job brilliantly and at 400 squid leaves enough moolah for something else cool.
  14. Poplar then, not great obviously but apart from the one odd small branch on the left. Seen a lot worse (From pretty close up as well!)
  15. so what was it?
  16. Species? (of tree not do as you likee)
  17. So, out of curiosity Tony what's your response to the OP? How do you deal with 'em (Given a free hand)
  18. Stop apologising, we're all grown ups here, nobodys offended:001_smile: Personally I love hi-lifts. Maybe that's the difference between "falling" and what most of us tree surgeons do (just get the bloody thing on the deck!)
  19. Don't get me wrong the slutty allure of The Magnum is indeed full of promise, but for me The Forest Fruit Solero was a siren call I could never resist, more pleasure from one of those after a hot day's treework than anything with your clothes on.
  20. Fair enough:001_smile:
  21. Seems to be more and more of these bizarre posts lately......Odd.
  22. you hardly touched it! I know the 'tip it out" merchants will cry heresy but it's not a beech, You've taken off about 6 months growth. I suppose as long as the client was happy....... but it's less bother to give it a proper trim.
  23. Personally I top 'em to previous and shorten the lower branches to a metre or two. Scalp them! they'll come back no prob.
