  1. Thanks Rich, plenty of oil in it still but leaking engine oil from soimewhere underneath, never done that before, all speculation I guess till someone has a look, I am not without knowledge on motors but these engines are tucked in so tight that it's a real pita.
  2. Yes I'll get the bloke to check it out, was preparing for the worst and trying to get an idea of price.
  3. No prob, I was using the machine with the thumb and it slowed down and stopped with a lot of black smoke, (I hadn't noticed the temperature gauge) there was a hose leaking so I managed to replace it, let it cool down, filled up the expansion chamber and restarted. On tickover it's fine but once you start working it within a minute the engine warning light flashes, lots of heat, breather pumping out smoke, gets sluggish, was lucky to be able to nurse it back onto the trailer. My best guess is that I've done the gasket and probably the head.
  4. Ok, so I think I cooked the engine on my Takeuchi TB016 today, which is a shame because I was loving the hydraulic thumb attachment. Can anyone recommend any companies that supply replacement engines, recon or new. It's got a 3 cylinder Yanmar lump. Thank in advance, Mick

  17. Is this a 2 parter Jonny? Can we have your take on the Blair years next?
  18. Funny you should say that, reminds me of a job way back when, I hired in lights and their own traffic control guy. It was his first day and when the lights did not sequence and traffic started moving instead of stopping them "manually" he ran towards the box and under a falling tree, all his fault, (and no lasting damage) however from the moment they took him away in the ambulance with a collar round his neck I was frozen, could not make a decision, luckily a bloke was working with me saw what had happened and took over for a few hours. So it resonates with me that everything can go a bit surreal for a bit.
  19. Finally. Fitted mine, had a play and you know when you're going to love it. Big ash takedown next week, this will save a lot of backache!
