  1. That and many other comments and actions, not ergronomic working at all poor lad. I dont think he had much grasp of wood structure/behaviour either, whacking wood without a firm no give base is harder work.
  2. I have encouraged customers to buy in the summer unseasoned to ensure not only do they have seasoned wood but they have it in stock when they need it. As for the apocalypse comment. Go like the oil producers with an escalating fixed price market. Which seems to be illegal in fair competition unless you deal in oil or energy:confused1:
  3. Absolutely brilliant. Made me laugh. Then people say immigrants are of no use!!
  4. I haven't the inclination to watch the whole thing, but he specialises in cracks from around the 6 to 9 minute mark. He could be in the lunge thread if we got a good clip swinging his maul. If my wood took as much splitting I'd be doing something else.
  5. Bit of a broad question you need to look at volumes really. Someone may sell a doublecab with greedy boards load, then another sell a single cab load with just up to the sides level load. Also a transit type or 4x4 pickup is a different size.
  6. Are you refering to the maul, possibly wrong peicture I thinkk the x46 is this maul.
  7. Just beaten by a day. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/65569-9000hours-carving-single-trunk.html
  8. I recollect seeing it recently
  9. I would probably evaluate things first. We made one as we had alot of the components already. Bearing in mind you will perhaps have adjustments and teething problems. 1. How much of your time will it take to get a functioning machine? Its suprising!! 2. What will it cost in components? 3. If you multiply your time by an your hourly rate and then add on the costs of things needed. If this is greater than what you can buy one for, I would buy as a professionally made one will have the appropriate safety features built in. Have a look at this thread http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/firewood-forum/50435-show-us-your-log-splitters.html
  10. Nice set up. close coupled as well. Our bryce wouldn't fit though due to the back shift sections, they nearly touch the downlinks on our arms. Ours is a Profi supreme version. I assume Neil has a lighter version?
  11. For your sleeper at the bottom alder (alnus glutinosa) Is said to last indefinetly under water. Its used in piers etc. However I think the problem is where the water level is and you get air and moisture. Use a wide enough piece of 2 attached together I reckon it wont sink in that much.
  12. UK storm: Did broadband cabling cause thousands of trees to topple? | Mail Online If you look at the species of trees used here in the article pictures and the damage. I dont think utility works was a major culprit. Bad image to article content, what does anyone else reckon. By the way I do think bad utility works are harmful to trees.
  13. Yet they got away with it. Whereas if you put it up it causes grief.
  14. This book has the answer its written by a police officer, is easy to use and textbook style. I will root it out and find out. Agricultural Vehicles on the Road by McMahon, Andrew: New Police Bookshop 9780953305872 - Better World Books Ltd
  15. I think it was in the 90s. When welfare and sponging became a lifestyle choice. Less people to generate money, therefore speed cameras and over parasitic ways of getting money came to the fore. Therefore use white collar to administer theory and teach those who are already getting on with it. Reason for my dates. Would the miners, dockers, farmers etc of the 80s let it happen? Now none of these exist in the quantity they did.
  16. I too am sure its sorbus thibetica as linked in my earlier post on this thread I just didn't specificly name it. But it is yellow and in the link. Which peatff has just linked.

Try ebay then have a look at the sellers own website.
  19. If using microwave do it in short bursts over 24hrs. Type in microwave and look through old threads. I think I posted in one once upon a time, when it was discussed.

    Boiler stoves

Just another thought does your tank have alternative bungs you could use higher up. Mine does.
  21. I called in with work the other day at the truck curtain/sheet yard for a repair. Asked the lad if they sold 2nd hand curtains. Im getting an artic curtain 44x8ft for £10:thumbup: Maybe try your local. They probably have to pay to skip em usually.

Not a plumber. Depending on what tank set up you have, Hot stratifies to the top and you need a large portion of the tank hot before it takes the hot out. Otherwise it would rapidly cool to a useless temperature. So it makes sense and 45 isn't that hot.
  23. Never a good thing sorting the previous days odds and ends the next day. He did get an early start though.
  24. Most of his Films are pretty good. He is a selective actor and only does what he thinks will be good. Has made a few errors though. According to the geeks on the web.( I agree)Han Solo is what made star wars work. Seat of the pants winging it. Like good tree work. Instead the pantom menace. Everything was in control and going to work out fine. I thought Liam Neeson looked positively bored delivering his dialogue and Hayden ( a nobody) look as me Christianson was trying too hard I reckon. As Harrison Ford once famously is supposed to of turned round to Lucas and said "You can type S... , but you can't say it. Another interesting fact about Ford is when shooting Raiders of the lost ark the sword fight scene were he just pulls his gun and shoots the guy, was the last of many takes, because he had diahorea and couldn't hang about long enough so he improvised. Hopefully Disney will tame the excess action, bring in unknown actors that are good and give it a story. Hopefully.
