  1. Hi Eddie what times will you be at F G Adamsons this weekend?
  2. A fast arbtruck, stay low keep out of towns and cities? On a serious note, find out lots on here. Pay taxes do it to the best you know get the right insurance. Maybe start small. Do hedges and smaller trees, build it up. To start with you won't be able to be too fussy what you take on. But as it grows streamline your niche.
  3. :confused1:Meter readers????
  4. Im doing this soon. I have two 346s as well so don't intend replacing yet:thumbup:
  5. This is a personal irritation of mine too. I think in the highway code it is recommended to reverse into off highway accesses. Its bleeding common sense. Everyone sees what you are doing and most often they wait for you to get out the way. Having come home after a journey vehicle is excellent in internal visibility not misted not frosted over. Not to mention others are more likely to have poor visibility in a morning. In answer to your question its laziness and living in the present gormlessness. Think, plan ahead. Quick back in now. Quick pull out next time you need to use the motor.
  6. Looking at the volvo number plate. Not this side of a ferry ride!
  7. Strangely enough a couple of months ago an incident ocurred. Two men doused a woman in petrol. The police got there including helicopter before it got any further and caught them fleeing off site. They never got to the highway. I was fascinated. On an RTA I was at once. The copshop was only 4 minutes away but they turned up last of the services after 22minutes. The one that took charge was a little man but a huge irritation. I had guided traffic for the duration. He just parked diagonally and jammed rush hour traffic.

Top right corner under your name. I always use it.
  9. Because they are trying their best and they reason that part was faulty as well and contributed to it. They do a black magic thing that they think know one can see through. I've thought this when I see people take them back again and again.

    Growing trees

They need double dormancy I recollect. Either collect and bag them in a dry hessian sack and bury the bag for 1 or 2 years(cannot remember which) or bag em and try them up and suspend in a shed roof somewhere. If they are double dormant its 2 years. Then sow. Them. The post about nibbled oaks I have layered the acorns in covered not air tight containers with compost/soil. They will send out roots. Transplant later around January when the nibble brigade have calmed down. Still may need protection. I have grown trees from seed. But need more time in the growing season to maintain. So don't do it at present.
  11. Looking at the berries and leaves I reckon its the Sorbus (whitebeam) family. I quickly googled this but Im not saying this is it exactly. I've not seen it before Perfect time to see Sorbus fruits - UBC Botanical Garden Forums
  12. Without wanting to get involved in a "Fight" it is poor component failure as the tractor will have relief valves and the machine will also. Hydraulic pipes should only fail at well over the rated pressure is reached or has been damaged by other means. Its a shame this is the outcome, its an imperfect world we all make mistakes. Just a shame we have this outcome, when it could of been so different by both parties. Peace Out.
  13. How long do we give Mr Bolams chart. I reckon end of weekend tops:blushing:
  14. I remember going to a dealers with the companys van. Mr Designer dude supervisor came to me thinking I was the boss. "Mr F....... would you like us to change the indicator bulb at the rear?" Knowing it worked when I drove it in. I replied " isnt it working?" "It works but the orange coating is peeling off" "How much?" "£11.64!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" "No dont worry we will sort it" That was 11 years ago and it was a citreon berlingo van. I had a look, you didn't even need a tool, it was 2 plastic wingnuts at back of cluster to access. That sums up main dealers for me. Easy fixes for maximum profit. The owners are absolutely loaded and only interested in the money. So with that mentality how are the lads ever going to learn with the don't repair, chuck it and make big bucks. I agree with Deans OP and have personally rectified "Professional" failures many times despite being mainly self taught.
  15. Only way is to stop I've found. Its not painful but It keeps you awake. It could be swollen muscle/tissue trapping nerves. I do various self employed work so stop using hand held power tools. If you try using the search bar. There are lots of threads on this. Start with "pins" "needles" "strain" "injuries"
  16. Heee hee, you don't suffer carpel tunnel or other rsa conditions either. Bit more room in scotland I suppose as well. You should go into demolition.
  17. Steve Im baffled or got wrong end of stick:confused1: In Ty's aspen/chains on a roll thread, you only used a miserly amount of chain per year. Yet you want a digger to shift wood? Are you ripping them out roots and lot?
  18. Its a supply and demand game like world grain prices but on a village scale. I only keep my gear going and get a days pay out of it. I don't buy in wood. It gives me work when im slack, and what I enjoy about doing firewood. You just get on with it without everyone else interfering i.e no people to deal with. Bliss! No probs with the bull bars each to there own. My vans capability is limited. One day soon I am probably going to have to uprate my cargo capability.
  19. Bull bars need subsidising! Im £45 a builders bag, but I run an escort van currently and let the customer collect mainly!
  20. Watch out for the goal post movers, say one thing then reduce it to another!!! Im not naming and shaming. Its against the rules, just tread carefully.
  21. Chains work out better if all or most of your saws run the same chain type. But thats not realistic for most. As for aspen if it stops you from dying of petroleum caused diseases. Worth every cent. However I don't use it because the price is a bigger margin and I don't make enough to justify it. However if you end up throwing away stale fuel and someone destroys a saw not getting the mix right, also time saved mixing. The difference diminishes. Alot of the viability of these depends on YOUR business set up.
  22. He better not say just carried on with his hammer! after all that:cursing:
  23. Wood is addictive and therapeutic.... until you do it full time or for big sessions, the the body tells you its not so good maybe!
  24. This thread a chap actually works in TM. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/63338-road-closure-help.html
  25. No but they charge them out at that and supply them with £50 worth of tools that last years.
