  1. Thanks J, I assume I need more on mine than that. Something to actuate the pump and control it. It currently just a yank and push cable. I really do have too many project dreams in the pipeline.
  2. Had a look, they are only an hour away from me. The remanufactured chippers look good value. Stress kit is listed as £650+VAT. Which is a bit much for me. I don't use my chipper for months at a time. The cost doesn't warrant it for me. In fairness the components are probably not cheap to buy.
  3. Didn't realise you was still there Arran. Nice one.
  4. With management anything daft is possible. The theory is on pills, creams, paints etc. try a small piece 1st. You wouldn't need anything but common sense to throw a piece of tree in with the animals. You can see them on return to the newly landscaped enclosure "Werhoo we got a tree dude, werhoo we got another!" Boing boing like tigger all over the place.
  5. If it's got stumps from previous crop it's spades I'm afraid, with a good team and mindset, it's not bad really. Depends on what you are aiming for rows or random and how big the plants are. Bulldog do a tree planting spear, I have one and generally only use for hedge planting as it's nibble and you can work close to other plants with it. I use a grafter for tree planting. Got the depth without the effort of moving a lot of soil. I also set out plants in bundles pre mixed bagged up. Start with first bag, grab enough trees to get to next bag and so on. Dragging bags of plants is unnessassary for us. When you reach bag throw it into next row ready. Tools I use Line just for first row Stakes for marking ends and middle Grafter Stake knocker
  6. This has been covered allbeit inconclusively in previous threads if memory serves. Try typing in keywords in the search tab.
  7. Nursery I work at uses common beech seedlings, as I'm sure all do. Beech can only be propagated by seed or grafting, yes micro propagation as well perhaps these days, the specimen in the photo was definitely before then.
  8. Foetus transplant and the following grief! I wouldn't worry too much about prearranged work let it flow. I always go with the proviso if alls well, weather etc. If you book reasonable people in for there jobs. Steer the selfish I'm more important types in beforehand then you won't get "what about my tree, you said you would do it .....blah blah! " phone calls. And when the baby comes use call divert to Bolam, he will sort it fer yer.
  9. Thanks for that informed view. It's a shame it's as it is
  10. Balance I reckon as a non parent myself. Not stereo typing the fairer sex here at all. I have seen blokes made a mug of by lifestyle wives, they do the gym, cafés, shopping etc. whilst the bloke earns a living then comes home and cooks & cleans, he also does the school run and lots with the kids. On the other hand don't always be at work and never have the time or relaxation to bother with your kids. I used to go with my dad trucking a fair bit, probably why I did the same. My brother spent all his time on the local farm and now does farming for a living. Unfortunately kids now have little opportunity to taste the world of work and shape their futures due to what now is overprotective legal issues. Well done to those integrating child rearing in to their busy lives and also showing them what they do for a living.
  11. I was thinking about bat habitat recently, I realise things have to be regulated because of selfish do as you like regardless folk that are out there. I thought it would be a good thing to make bat friendly construction on your home like people do with bird boxes on the wall etc. You could Incooperate ledges under facia boards and gable ends. Then I realised it's a no brainer because if you want to change facia boards or build an extension, it will be a big no no due to your kind hospitality. Am I right ? I do like to see bats and other wildlife and would encourage them but such thoughts would put me off.
  12. Can you get retrofit auto reverse kits now? I have an old pto chipper that only had it as an expensive option 12 years ago. Just wondering how feasible and if the price has dropped significantly with the March of technology. Currently it works by grabbing the control bar and manually setting what you want.
  13. Nice one, my welding is naff and holds me back. If it's just you using it does it need a Headboard. The kubota isn't likely to go too fast and slam on is it? Maybe cost you two days but compared to a manufactured one, how much did them days work out at??? That's often a satisfying result, though you do buy a CE mark with a commercially produced one.
  14. Everyone is selfishly possessive in the modern world. Didn't a father and son from china have a legal case against them a few years ago for copying Honda engines. Has the patent expired now on the gx?
  15. Just had a battery light problem on our ka. The alternator is a pig to get out. I got a regulator off ebay and just bolted that on the alternator in situ. It's cured it. I didn't have other issues apart from headlights fluctuating in beam strength.
  16. Nutter. Pointless waste of money is my view. A lot of satisfaction and pleasure is in the nurturing and watching them grow. Good thing it creates employment. I'm not against moving semi mature trees, this though is extreme .
  17. Saw manuka shavings in diy stores in NZ last December for use in smokers, they were small chainsaw curls type material with not a lot of fines in them. A friend does his own smoking and tells he even dampens the twigs to increase smoke vapours.
  18. You are right land up to now has been stable. But should farming go down, it will suck land down with it. 10-15 years ago the uk couldn't build homes quick enough. Then it went bad. Adults moved back home to parents and property market stagnated. My personal experience of anything to do with value and investment leads me to be cautious now!
  19. All interesting views. The way to test from a users viewpoint is have 2 generations of like for like saws, get a young lad newish to the game on them for a few days. See what he picks up by choice. The environment issues do compromise other important things like were research and development isn't getting spent. I'm on old school saws and as an occasional user should never need to buy another. I have 5
  20. Everything in life is unpredictable, if not sentimentally attached get rid. Too many people hogging land because it's a recommended investment instead of using it properly, look at the acres now wasted on solar panels. Yet what percentage of suitable roof space is used for it? All it takes is for the pro green bubble to burst, negative mainstream media or change of government to name a few and overnight land could be worth a lot less. It has happened to every industry and trend. Fashion comes and goes.
  21. Always a nice feeling to get a blank canvas back. I try various clear outs from time to time and it's a good feeling.
  22. Probably is! I don't do the intense gaming I did as a teen. My interest doesn't last as long. It's not so addictive anymore. I prefer doing repairs and being in the shed kind of activities these days.
  23. I drop in and out of candy crush is spasms of a few weeks on months off. Got an iPhone 4 battery stops play is If your not at home. I regular fight the predictive A.I which thinks it knows what I'm on about more than I do!!!
  24. That's interesting to know. I've spent a few hours online researching control of it. It was an incidental point that I remembered.
