  1. People do charge a fortune for installing gates. I assume they dig by hand and concrete them in👎 Whereas I'd bang them in with knocker. Probably 1 1/2 hrs work at the most to bang 2 posts in, fix fittings and hang.
  2. As stickers? If so wouldn't the timber get sweat spots = fungus?
  3. I filled one of these in a while ago. Started to fill the form in again just now and my email is already in use. So I assume I'm already registered?
  4. Someone that's blinkered only to the bees welfare viewpoint. As we commonly find a tree is a lesser biological entity in the minds of most humans. Because they personally haven't nurtured it for decades or centuries! If they had raised it from seed onwards the attitude would be very different!!!
  5. Plus one here G coupler. One hand pumping and no knuckle bashing👍
  6. Artic steering means front wheels follow same rut as back or vice versa. The stability issue increase with weight of implement or how far it hangs from rear/front axle. At steady speeds not so much an issue. I've had to lower Implements to stabilise in situations in the flatlands of East Yorkshire when negotiating ruts and plough furrows etc. Realistically like any vehicle you will learn the feel for your combined capabilies The squiggle steer of America can be really handy hitching up, mowing and other situations.
  7. No utility companies in Kent region then? Still in Stoned Age?
  8. Not of use to you, but a couple of days ago I was in a utility company yard(kosher!) the scrap skip was full of manhole covers of various sizes. I was thinking there will be someone wanting one why waste em? 6mm with angle iron tacked to the end dimensions of the hole on two sides. More interestingly how did the pickup scramble out. Did someone have to actually use 4wd in a real world scenario here?
  9. Erm are you having a laugh? Is this for real? Getting older! I've seen threads shot down in flames for less. If your being serious, you will find repetition will help also techniques will improve and the all important skin will callous up and toughen with the rest of your body. At your age I was climbing a thick rope feet first just for the challenge of it. Still to this day never been to the gym yet, admit my techniques could've been better. As for uploading pictures. Choose go advanced in your reply at the bottom, pick the landscape/ postcard icon, go from there. You've done your avatar?
  10. A pm I got last week took 4 days to arrive, don't know if it was because my inbox was full about a week earlier. I did a dump before the pm was sent though. How long before the above comment derails!
  11. A forty is a track laying machine with a loader instead of a bulldozer blade.
  12. Hour rate is for retirees turning up for an afternoon to use clients tools. Get your own gear, it's quicker than fixing theirs and looking daft taking for ever with it and charge for it. Where in east Yorks? I get asked for a gardener sometimes. Pm me if you prefer.
  13. Don't think any harm in raising awareness. Good to see people enjoying purposeful work that benefits others.
  14. Well done, you will be learning from this.
  15. True I know a lad he's about 25 never done a days paid work yet. Always positively dreaming "I'm gunna......" He's not done nowt yet. I have tried to verbally encourage him. But even a nice lass didn't change him! She had enough and went.
  16. Try it, let us know how it goes. I wouldn't even know where to by them from without a Google.
  17. Whilst many lack self confidence and are reluctant to challenge themselves and it does make a big difference, you do need other things to go your way, such as a good supportive spouse not a money drainer lazy high maintainence type. And reasonable health to Name two. I've been self employed 15 years and still not making anymore than if I was employed. I am not money motivated. I just enjoy working and been occupied. Always rip myself off not the client. But I'm content.
  18. I blooming good saw you don't want to waste. I'm not a pro fixer. I'd take muffler off. Get the piston to BDC. blow air gently through spark plug hole and hold it to blow down out exhaust port. Then put a little magnet inside on string and roll it around until it doesn't pick any bits up. I think the piston and pot are alloy!
  19. Assuming it's bacteria overload, try rubbing tea tree oil in after bath/shower it knocks em back. Do it religiously for about 10 days. Old footwear will probably re transplant it.
  20. What size diameter cable did you use?
  21. Assuming it's aluminium I've made one before out of angle aluminuim. If it's thicker than the genuine it won't matter, don't go too thin though. Yes it works when the chain comes off. As you are only doing firewood for self it should get you going for now.
  22. Don't forget to patent the anti theft prevention, subject to installed height. It pees me off how many people fail to control dogs, excreting, peeing, jumping up and nicking grub
  23. Yes that's right Fenland They are big capacity, not suited to really narrow holes, but then I'd use an auger. And yes gnfencer drivall been gone a year, for some reason they can't shut the website down and the phone number is still live to another company that's fed up of the calls.
  24. I have a set made by an old firm in West Yorkshire. Can't think of the name.
  25. I would hire you if I was your competitor. I personally think teamwork in an industry is the way forward, it's a reason why the Dutch growers succeed, they work together, you grow X, I will grow y and cross supply other, combine, share haulage etc. Farmers do it with machinery rings. Share kit, less overheads, more profit, You do need to watch out and eliminate the two faced backstabbers. I wouldn't be too proud to spend two weeks with an axe rather than hiring you for a day.
