  1. As I'm not full time on trees I do it but with everything that I do work wise. Always brain busy which is not good for you. The thing is I know what I enjoy. But last December on holiday, against my own grain I made a real effort to try things I'd prejudged I wouldn't like. I kept and keep trying things, but what really proved how well I knew myself was when my wife said let's try this new art gallery in Auckland. First room was a huge almost empty waste of space. I was drawn to the 3 most ridiculous pieces, and offered my comments. My wife said I think we will go. We did. Tree game is mentally and physically occupying. Requiring alertness. What can you do to relax. Everything else is in pointless slow motion, unless you do motocross in a weekend with your already pummelled body. That's why stubby on here is half man half machine. Still on the tools at the end of his working life, probably in pain daily. Does anyone have a cure
  2. Straw bale companies run trucks as Agri, however permantly attached is a purpose built stacking tipping body. Just a plain bulk tipper wouldn't be as dedicated, more prone to temptation.
  3. Unless your pulling cultivating equipment I reckon turf or industrial best choice if it's mainly summer work doing trailer and maintainence. Agri tyres cut up ground a lot. More. Agri are cheaper to buy later as well. Got the bigger expense out the way and on new deals the difference can be very little or nothing.
  4. It happens and I can vividly see what the culprits look like
  5. I'd try the neighbour in person. Failing that a gentle letter with the thoughts of your original post and they can ring or come round whatever suits them. And be prepared to do it on the cheap. It cuts a whole lot of hassle out and you haven't got the time or cost of travelling to the site. If it's a 2 hr job or less I'd even do it for nowt, currently your doing a large contribution for nowt. Could be good P.R exercise. But I'm daft and avoid aggro.
  6. Not sure looks unruly like a padus, bird cherry. Going more on the stem in the guard assuming it's the same thing. Yes a restock of soil would be good, don't be suprised if it's the usual shallow civil engineering job previously.
  7. I got the short shrift from my local dealer when I asked for 4-5ltr bulk husky oil. I was sold Morris oil instead. Which he reckoned was far superior. For some reason my face has seldom fit at local dealer and I've never had a strop with them. In fairness the Morris hasn't let me down but I've not run the 3120xp on it yet. It's a saw you need to face with the joys of spring when you feeling invincible.
  8. Bolam your talents are never ending. How do you manage it all in this short life.
  9. Good to hear and quick customer service there. Look forward to the rest of the story.
  10. Your one of the lucky ones Bob. Having it as part of a job and I know you can reverse. I've seen the photos👌
  11. It's a shame in this age of technology, someone doesn't create an alternative IT based PayPal type setup. Where members just put a % of their income in a pot and its dealt with. Instead of the double ended conning that goes on. I turnover little, never give them any hassle or claim. Yet every year they bring up an excuse why they can't continue last years policy without wasting hours of our time. "You work above 2m or you work below 2m. " Yes just like last year😡 It would be simpler, more profitable and time saving to just add a small increase to last years premium. The word premium is a fallacy. Doesn't it mean the tops, exclusive, better than standard?
  12. Fair point. It is crazy isn't. I'd forgotten about that. Once you have it you don't have to wonder if you can.
  13. If you want 540 actual speed you need to run the rpm clock at the line/mark where the speed is, probably about 3/4 top engine speed. If you want to save fuel run 540 in the 1000 range you can do the maths or a simpler way that we did with a mog without a working clock was. Fit the pto machine to a tractor with a working clock. Run at set speed on that tractors clock. Mark one of the elevators paddles with string, do this before you start obviously.Run it for a minute not doing actual work and count the rotations. Then put it on your machine and run it, adjusting until you get the same speed. Tip divide the rotations so you know how long one full rotation is, say 5 seconds, when you think your right. Run for a minute to verify. Alternatively watch a YouTube manufactures video. Count the paddles on the model or the time it takes to go from A-B for one paddle, this will be rough but the maker shouldn't be overspending!
  14. Not to be an prat, but why? I did my class one before they made you do the rigid and theory 1st. That was over 20 years ago. Artic driving looks big and glamorous, but generally it's the most boring truck driving you can do. I've done about 10-12 weeks relief driving of it in those 20 years. It tends to be sat on your backside for longer haul work, unload turn around for the long haul back. Little physical activity, tired from boredom, the long inactive hours make you more tired and of little use in your own time. I personally find it life destroying. However thanks to embracing the cpc for driving. and the old professionals giving it up due to retirement or being nearly there. There is an evident shortage of class one drivers that can competently reverse. Only two weeks ago I assisted a new driver in his 50s from a major national haulage company to turn his brand new rig round. He didn't believe it was doable in the space. There is work there but as someone with an active body and mind it's not for me. It is another qualification if you fancy it however, you will find many with class one don't recommend it.
  15. Congratulations on retiring, enjoy it
  16. Eh? Was it an auto spell? I didn't purposely mention a flymo. It's not a mans machine to cut short grass never mind a woodland venture.😀
  17. Tip off your inbox me idiot. I tried to pm you🙄
  18. The length of the wheelbase and the bias of weight at the front will achieve the impressive lift capability. Something held at arms length requires more force to lift. A kids seesaw you can equalise different weights or send the other higher depending on location in relation to pivot point.Or as in the goIdoni's case makes a greater counter balance I would certainly use its lift ability in a yard area. I've lifted excessive weight with front end in the air and used it independent brakes to steer. Because of the laws of motion. It works better in reverse.
  19. Best prices in bare root season to quote the obvious. I would wait until then if I could. It's only about 20 weeks away and the benefit of not having to water them for many of those coming 20 weeks!
  20. Come on do tell has toy arrived??
  21. You are correct, I was leg pulling, I did drop off a dirty saw once🙈 Spud gave me the schoolteacher to naughty boy look. My neighbour did his motorbike calipers in the dishwasher recently with good result. A long time ago in the bench thread I think it was, we discussed the merits of household appliances for shed purposes. I got banned from using the oven to heat up crankshaft bearings ever again or using it for any non food purposes. Spud , id only put the plastic bits in the dishwasher. Don't imagine salt and corrosive chemicals good on the carb or engine itself.
  22. How much discount would we get if we put our saw bits through the dishwasher before sending them. Bearing in mind the wrath of the wife for a week of 2 stroke scent cutlery and pots.🤔
  23. Having seen grislinea in its native wet windswept habilitat on the west coast of the South Island NZ. I thought it was a good hardy plant for the dry east coast of Yorkshire. It failed due to a hard winter whilst young. They don't enjoy frost. However a client has a fantastic 15-20ft hedge of it a mile from the sea or less in a walled garden. Customers often want the shopping experience of instant impact that doesn't grow or need maintainence. Walls and fences achieve this best. I always explain its worth the wait and tell them by example of how quick time goes eh the age of there car if it's 5 yr old. Thuja plicata is similar to leylandii with the advantage of it will regenerate from bare wood unlike leylandii. Laurel can be hungry in some soils. Hornbeam is a robust choice.
