  1. For TTM gross weight per class. Trailers allowable with appropriate licence which gives a bigger weight. 3.5t 4x4 pick up 7.5t special licence truck but grandad rights still around 18t generally 4 wheel. First proper hgv now lgv 26t 6 wheeler 32t 8wheeler 44t max uk truck and trailer combo on 6 axles. Deduct gross weight per axle less Then you go into abnormal load territory. That the simple of it but with the operators licence. Other weights come in. Sometimes people down rate to achieve this. Uk has lots of rules that don't work with each other well!
  2. Brutal always disappointing and it's not nice to say but it's a shame it doesn't go wrong when they do it. For example it lands on a neighbours house or car. Or they get trapped and have to be rescued by emergency services. They don't deserve to live where they do.
  3. Tyres will be rated to carry either way. Most artic trailers on super singles now for good reason. It does look lightweight when you are. Used to duals. Less of a pain to check pressures. Transits aren't that good in the wet off-road with duals either unless you like drifting. 4x4 are nearly always single and they tow well.
  4. I reckon businesses started and now full time consumed in running it. Last thing they want to talk about is paperwork and money worries.
  5. Didn't take long. But that's not good from a dealer. It's always worth asking for the old parts to prove work has been done. Should it not be done right you can have then put back on and they should take the replacement back and reimburse. £10k very bad.
  6. If the scania is in decent nick, not abused. In budget. That is what I'd be getting. It's the truck that constantly performs reliably throughout it's life. I drive a 12 and a 14 yr old concrete mixers that havnt had a lot if tlc. They still go well. Low cost of ownership over the lifespan as well. Someone do doubt will be mentioning a Friday build lemon after I've said this.
  7. That's good to hear. Makes it better. Excuse my ignorance, I go by what I heard probably a long time ago.
  8. Shouldn't go wrong with a Volvo, personal favourite is scania. They hold value though.
  9. What model. I use a tf321 that I could look at
  10. Advertising and commercial interests. For example a car maker could have a documentary of their car being built, developed etc. Whilst we are discussing TV licence fee, paying for the privledge to watch. What about SKY. I've never had it but I've heard people pay £30 upwards a month, then every so often a commercial break then in movies etc just as it's hotting up ten minutes before the end. Another commercial. I know some people record and skip the ads. But in theory you have paid for it. An opportunity here lads. Turn up to a job. Get gear out. Walk around with sandwich boards with ads on. Or play recorded ads. Start saws out get job going. Just as it gets to an exciting bit or the kids leaving school down tools. Take a commercial. Finish job Get paid for job and advert work. You wouldn't do it would you, yet we accept it with TV.
  11. Ouch, bet they are plotting legit revenge!
  12. Last summer Jon I was delivering concrete in a 6 wheeler truck to a mini roundabout in a busy town centre. Only one guy on tm and two blokes working. As I approached I gestured where do you want me? How are we going to do this. 3 of them stood there in a zombie like trance, probably coming to terms with they were now going to have to do some work. However 3 weren't enough to direct me. I positioned myself in the least disruptive way to traffic I thought best. As I jumped out the cab they informed me "driver can you......" I was required to dance the whole roundabout again. You look a twerp but what can you do? I could write 3 TV series of mr bean, frank spencer style comedy based on real people that work at the rear end of a concrete mixer.
  13. Takes one to know one. didn't know it still existed.
  14. 40kph Not for the faint hearted especially if you have twin steer!
  15. It is a common thing to use stock photos. Or other peoples work. Personally I'd add photos later.
  16. That's disappointed me. I thought you were a live dangerously kinda guy! Now I imagine you been armchair, Horlicks and slippers.
  17. Not spoiling for a debate. You do need a good effective climber. A numpty groundie can make the best climber look an idiot. A brilliant groundie makes half an astonishing team. Often the groundie is under valued. Back to original topic. Plenty of money to be made in tree work if willing to work hard do the hours as own boss. Sadly like many enterprises the employee can be greedy. Some employers do however treat staff well. It's getting the right place.
  18. Classic tractor magazine featured one in brilliant conditition in the last two years. I think the owner had more than one forest machine as well. Sorry I cannot remember more.
  19. Just get a blanking plate for the wall socket and replace the TV aerial facia with this. Probably £1 from toolstation screwfix etc. I've never had a TV licence in over 10 years. We have a monitor which is hdmi but with no aerial socket. But now who actually watches via aerial? Skybox or internet now. Never had licensing people round. It can't be long before it's abolished. The beeb is a real business these days printing mags, selling shows, DVDs merchandise etc. why should it bleed joe average? We don't pay a licence to use electric or go to the beach or many other things that are now part if our society/culture! And no I have never watched live TV. Just catch up. As I've mentioned in other threads my TV tolerance/ patience is not much.
  20. I take it you went to price as well then?
  21. Just had a quick look, New Zealand would be stupid to grow G E forestry, but it's a country that is politically silly enough. They have the advantage of being the youngest country in the world for getting western civilisation. Yet they have made many errors from a commercial bias, to their beautiful country. Overstocking livestock for maximum return$, fertiliser and other agricultural practises liberally blathered on the land and in to the water cycle, rivers polluted etc. Trees grow there at twice the rate of most places in the temperate regions. It wouldn't surprise me if they want more! Apologies for the rant, but I've seen the abuse firsthand.
  22. Philip I think you started a similar thread quite a while ago. Did you purchase at that time or has this been an ongoing business decision? In intrigued as it often takes me years to achieve the upgrade is like or the equipment I want. Hope the new machine is to your liking, keep us posted.
  23. Anything is possible with the right amount of cizzer!
  24. Don't smoke, very little alcohol, never have wine. Wife cooks meals, she shops well. We are both veggie. Do our own pack up. Rarely drink coffee or tea. Probably most peoples idea of misery. When we first got married I was on the most simple basic tortuous diet in conjunction with treatment for my hearing, one kind of veg and one protein per meal three times a day with fruit for desert. It was cheap living It set us up for good habits. For an economy viewpoint. I am talking about food not the other costs.
  25. 2 of us. We live on £45 a week! Can I be your dog!
