  1. Great - nice to know that you have sorted the saw, many just rape you for info and dissapear in to the distance:sneaky2: Good to get the feedback and hope the advice was of use.
  2. Yes - Alec (AGG221) has one on his 044 and now Magnum 066 - both seem fine - only problem I had was I purchased one for a 346XP and it was open ported so wasn't too happy with it. If you are fitting a new kit and the old one was seized - make sure you know the reason - if it was just losing power then that is fine but you may have just been able to fit a new piston as the plating on the cylinder wears very little.
  3. You got to love these guys havent you:thumbup: Darwin really had a point -lucky the guy in the first clip could run away - I thought he may end up with a welly full of bone and blood:lol:
  4. Not sure being computer illiterate is the only thing to worry about - think there are a few members struggling to work out which bit of the sawy thing to hold and which bit to cut with:lol: Always tolerant to members new or old:biggrin:
  5. Looks like an oak bough to me - mix it with a bit of softwood and the fire will burn long and lovely:thumbup:
  6. Ive never had any problems with their parts and service, I guess you tell how good a company is from their ability to deal with problems of this nature, I hope it all gets sorted in a good manner - good luck
  7. I hope these guys ar reincarnated as ponies and suffer the same fate - utter low life scum.
  8. Any news on the Arb Ireland pot and piston? Interested from a personal view as it is one of the few they make for the 346/353 that has closed ports!
  9. Its the "needs tuning" that always worries me - if it is a simple fix then why not fix it? For the uninitiated, you can burn through £150 pretty quick if it needs a typical sprocket and perhaps the piston or carb is shot!
  10. Sounds like the Bristol Blenheim at Duxford - they spent years getting airworthy and then busted it on the first flight - never good when one of these old planes gets damaged like this.
  11. The Spitfire and Hurricane had a bit of a mock dog fight over our house as we were having a BBQ - the guests were impressed that we had laid this on as were the ones at our Royal Wedding bash when the Lancaster came accross - got some advantages living near Old Warden!
  12. Turn both the H&L screws fully in (don't over tighten) undo them counter clockwise one turn, start the saw and adjust the idle until the saw idles ok and the chain dioesn't spin. That is a very basic tune - if you can't tune by ear - I wouldn't bother with a tach as you still need to know how to get a basic tune before taching the saw. If the saw won't run on these basic settings and the idle is up and down, it is possible you have one of a few problems with the notorious Zama carb. Hopefully your local dealer will be up to resolving these or they will just fit a new carb.
  13. Thought it might - not too many people grease it and it gets some abuse!
  14. Mister solutions but they do have to get them in - around a week, there are a few others -http://www.ats-webshop.co.uk/page143.html Not used this outfit but they list them!
  15. Some sprocket bearings are greased by pushing grease in to the middle of the end of the crank - some are drilled in the centre and have an exit hole under the bearing - not sure about the 346 though - havent had my non runners off the shelf yet! Mister Solutions do a good line in Stihl oils - online and based in Stoke on Trent - Andy is a good guy!
  16. Looks like a real one to me - been refurbed, I think Stihl are still making this model for the South American market but my money is on refurb - will let you know why if I am correct - am viewing on a phone though!!
  17. The aluminium inserts would be best as they transfer the heat better. The steel ones may melt the plug - had that once on a FS1E Yamaha moped - the end looked like larva!
  18. Only in America.....that in sales is known as a USP - Unique Selling Point.....None more unique than that methinks:lol:
  19. Last time I saw smoke like that - Luke had brought round a MS660 that had a tank of petrol, oil and Diesel in it - now being used in my lawnmower! Nice job - love the wobbly bit on the front - just needs a bit of porting now!
  20. Glad it isn't just my wife:lol:
  21. Didn't want to say whose it is but you are spot on - the owner (naming nobody) said dont bother but things like that really miff me if I can't fix them - every time it comes round it has left a trail of chain oil around the place:lol: Think I am going to paint the handle grey for George - obviously hankering after a Stihl! Just fixed a dodgy inlet rubber, carbon in the inlet port and given it a good clean out - pressure checked and tached at 13,500rpm - should keep the boys happy! No - the Silversides are both on the rack still with another one coming in tomorrow - not sure if that one is 50cc - a bit of a punt! I want to get the porting and reassembly done but not got enough time as working on saws for other people.
  22. Probably a good choice, Arb Ireland have real fast delivery and are one of the few sellers that do the closed port 346 cylinder which is probably the one you have got. Hope it all goes well - take care the circlips are in place properly and the ring locators are nearest the inlet port - arrow points toward the exhaust port!
  23. It really could be a number of things - typical problems are crank seals, leaking decomp valve, leaking impulse line, leaking carb boot (a real bugbear on these 3 series Huskys) or could be a leaking welch plug or the carb needing a clean, as well as the fuel line, filter. Whatever it is, make sure that top end fubbs and doesn't scream otherwise there is a risk of it seizing. If you run out of talent then send it over - I don't tend to break the bank!
