  1. Take on some well paid staff then if free unpaid workers are a risk. More like some scum that have been following the vehicle back from a site:thumbdown: Not nice to assume because someone is a volunteer that the person is also a thief. I had people come to do free work at weekends and one was a local doctor.
  2. 346 XPG (heated handles version)
  3. No idea how large the "Patch of Wood" is but a well trained horse is ideal on land unsuitable for machines and too small for a cable crane system.
  4. No. I went to a local woodland meeting a couple evenings ago and the FC is planning some bulk firewood auctions in September in Lincs area for the general public and selling them fresh felled softwoods as decent wood to use that wintertime . Strange ideas!!
  5. Snökedjor, Skruvdubb, Slirskydd, Snökedja & Isdubb/isdubbar | MaxiGrip
  6. Because snow has oxygen spaces inside and grass can breathe unlike under ice which is frozen solid.
  7. There is talk about free education until 18 then 12 months National Service like in several countires worldwide and then the real world of hard work.
  8. Most of the time the forum is Sometimes when posting it drives me :001_rolleyes: as the message vanishes.
  9. I run 242 XPG's and 346 XPG's and a 395XPG with no issues on eco fuels and oils. We had some cutters work with us using Stihl's and the saws used more normal unleaded fuel and mineral chain oil and were less reliable in hardwood thinning work. (Maintenance schedules?) I had an 020S but it was scrapped after 6 months work. Bowsaw was more useful in the end.
  10. I went direct as we are in the area and purchased some spares and a new cable. Nice people:thumbup1:
  11. Customs should check machines against a stolen list instead of letting it all go through whilst wearing a blindfold!! I had a special woodfuel chipping machine stolen a few years ago (One of two produced worldwide) and it has never turned up. Was told shipped to Ireland/Africa by Police. I would still give a reward to find it and the B******S that stole it on the fourth attempt. (I know the name of one of them)
  12. There is Ecolots which I find useful. Perhaps a "Link" to them? Environmentally Friendly Free Classified Ads
  13. There is also a version from Northern Tool (11902E) for £24.99 + VAT although not sure how strong compared to the interesting Clark version. It will hold 254mm log stem.
  14. Charcoal Kilns give some fine woodgas flares.
  15. Should be simple to light using the normal method of fires. Two cautions:- Distance to a highway and homes? Light on a downwind side to allow the control of the pile. We had a pile of beech brash that took several days to cool down and 8 hours to burn. Roast potatoes and bacon then.
  16. I have E-mailed everyone that gave me an E-mail address in the PM. (Worth checking in the spam box:thumbdown:) Now waiting for the next large bulk order from Sweden to arrive ASAP and will update on here. I heard on the news that 300+ people a week are breaking bones on the frozen pavements:001_rolleyes:
  17. NO. When one has a nice warm woman beside me.
  18. Clio diesel starts on the button at -14.6C no problems without a block heat source. The electric cost is expensive and a waste if on for more than a couple of hours. Good servicing including a change of oils before cold weather is ideal to keep going. The truck has good starting as well and a Mercedes approved cold fluid start if needed at -30C There are battery box heaters to keep the charge alternative is to use some hessian sacks.
  19. I have burned Ash wood when fresh and green. No problems if hot as the sap will not line the flue pipe. During the Dutch Elm times that was all we burned but all well seasoned so hot stove.
  20. I had a Logosol for many years powered by a 395XPG which we used for horrible shaped lengths that would not transport back to base but the wood was too good to log up for firewood. Ideal for access/use in diffcult work sites. If you make unusual furniture/turn bowls/make chopping/cheese boards the Logosol is fine for decent hardwood slabs so long as there are no branch stubs left on. We have done Yew/Ash/Elm/Sycamore/Oak/Holly both in private gardens and small woodlands.
  21. Some interesting vehicles (Log Shed) I was told by the HSE that fuel and chainsaw have to be in a seperate area from people incase of fumes. Is that correct?
