  1. A scheme that helps to prevent stolen goods and recovers business properties is welcome. The Police and Customs people at ports need to be more active as much going abroad to Eastern Europe. At present on the safesite said 110 items stolen and 6 returned.
  2. The problems started when the MMB closed and the public stopped milk purchase from the doorsteps. Remember doing around 10 years ago a Larch thinning on a farm and at lunchtime the man came over talking about cheap milk from Poland so we said farms and estates should purchase local fencing instead of cheap foreign imports. Think some farms have gone into big machines and more loans which don't help with long term costs. I still remember doing milking in the old fashion methods but less overheads and less stress. In Derbyshire some are going into Ice Cream, Butter, Yogurt production to add value.
  3. Courts and Police are a total waste of expense and time. A polite letter with an Invoice to the landlord might work?
  4. The person who now owns the woodland might want to have some organic free range pigs to clean up the land before allowing the new trees to come up.
  5. There might be some at the APF/Confor Show in September?
  6. Interesting to know how the HMRC vehicle was taxed, insured as being used as a commercial vehicle so cannot be "Private Light Goods" Make sure new dipping tubes between each vehicle to avoid testing issues.
  7. Operation Stack still closing the M20 so current travel time issues. Ironic here we are wanting to leave the UK to a new life and thousands at Calais wanting to move in.
  8. I assumed those without signs were claiming dole, cash in hand, tax avoiding and uninsured...............
  9. Thanks. We know of John Parker. Just working out how to take vehicle and trailer as well. DFDS should take animals from Immingham. Driving a MB914 AK-31 with twin axle trailer and demountable livestock box.
  10. Thanks. DFDS closed the Harwich to Esbjerg route in 2014. Now 2 brand new freight ships from Immingham but boss in Denmark said no. Dover crossing 60mins and main roads good. I will check the prices on Stenaline to Hook of Holland.
  11. Thanks. Yes we aware of that but worked out could drive a long distance in less time than the vessel sails. (Horses would have to rest 12hrs at Hook of Holland so would mean more stops) Dogs are allowed to drive without time restrictions.
  12. Alan Hitchcock runs vehicles/machines UK wide and is reasonable. 01773 880888.
  13. So as DFDS won't take horses and dogs on the same sea crossing (Immingham to Esbjerg) then it looks like we will have to soon drive down from Derbyshire to Dover and cross to Calais Then drive 1400 miles up through France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Denmark with 3 Shires/Clydesdales and 2 German Shepherds. We have sourced a safe place to overnight the animals and us in Duisburg/Osnabruck area of Germany but need a additional place in northern Denmark before arriving at Hirtshals Havn to cross to Langesund in southern Norge. We have portable electric fencing and the horses are used to that. A clean source to fill water cans would be useful at same site. Ideas and help welcome. Thanks in advance.
  14. Looks like woodworm holes and much sap on main stem.
  15. Seen sheep with issues on land being used to control the weeds and having picked large areas of Ragwort Fields can confirm human sickness.
  16. It's toxic to most livestock and humans from handling so use good gloves.
  17. Used with care the original is much better than the modern version.
  18. I wish that was the case in the UK!!
  19. Terrible sad news. RIP. I was helping a friend in Holland (he was in a large Birch tree me on the ground in a small garden) and he was tired and threw a strop with a metal connection which hit me on the helmet cracking it. I was wearing a bright Orange helmet and work jacket. Should all climbing teams be using good reliable radio communications to avoid this ever happening again? Shouting to people over the noise of chainsaws and woodchippers is useless.
  20. Nice Unipower machine!!
  21. Personal experience of political people:- Local Conservative district council refused sustainable wooden cabins and a new public access onto the start of a long distance trail and passed a Travellers Site on the land we own instead!! Local Conservative MP (Transport Minister) been there long time but useless in a couple of serious business issues. The sightline verge owned from DCC is being left overgrown to enable refusal of planning permissions. (Locals taken to felling/ringbarking trees damaging historic walls to enable safe use of main road and passing of alternative uses) Labour MEP helped us to resolve the issue in Norge and hoping to finish move there soon. Local council elections have 3 Green people standing that seem to be more level headed and decent than most of the usual parties.
  22. Don't Drink and Drive and the speeding fines are high. Food nice and most natives like the English.
  23. Back in UK now but last week 26C with bright sunshine and -8C at night in southern Norge.
  24. We use single strand wire rope and posts at 3M on undulating ground and 6M on good level land. Batteries last around 4 months before charging again. Use a Midge fencing unit. Some sites we doing conservation grazing with electric posts at 4m spacing.
  25. Cyclists should be within a metre of the curb. Modern riders seem to wiggle around all over the road like a drunk and unaware of traffic behind and give a huge amount of verbal abuse should someone toot a horn to warn them. Too much steriods and coffee based drinks?
