  1. Brave man starting this honest post as most people with issues wait until too late to seek help which is a shame. I have not read all the responses but have a few comments. There was a mate who worked for us manual cutting a long time and then moved to Devon. 12 months ago he visited various friends around the UK then was found hanged in his barn. Shocked when I was told as he seemed so normal and he left no reasons. Several months ago a close female relative went on a break to Asia with her best friend and on return the friend committed suicide. (The friend had been depressed but had not talked with people/professionals about issues I am told) It's so sad some people feel cannot discuss problems as I am sure this helps. The terrible effect on those left behind is with them forever!! Life is difficult at times but like the weather there is sunshine over the next hill.
  2. I had a Logosol for a long time and it cut good and straight all the time. I made various branded products from Ripple Sycamore and Ash (air-dried in three months standing vertical) The main issues are amount of fuel/oil used cutting large hardwoods, a real pain to manual load, the legs sink in soft ground and the ripping chain wastes so much valuable wood. Should I do this again I would use the band-saw blade with electric drive instead of the 266XPG.
  3. We had a herd of Iron Age pigs and moved from woodland to woodland. Cleaned up land well and now most woodlands still with Bluebells and wildflowers with hundreds of young Oak/Ash seedlings. The meat was good enough to sell in Chatsworth Farm Shop.
  4. Nice soil there and did well to plough without cage wheels.
  5. It's not Charlie Pinney's version (I know the item) I have a couple of pictures so will see if can load on forum. Looks very well made with good balance and will drive mowers/bailers.........
  6. I am looking for the firm (I think French) that produce the single axle ground drive horse drawn forecart with PTO and 3-Point Linkage. It's Green and Black. Nice useful work tool but no idea who makes that. Thanks.
  7. I noticed often pictures from various people including me load upside down? Advise please.
  8. We are due a metre of snow over the weekend with storm force nine winds. Hmm. Much better than rain.
  9. Too much of this going on at present. Hope it's found!!
  10. How about some Iron Age pigs instead? Be expensive to hit rocks/stumps with that machine.
  11. Often it's the same morons that had done the site before back again a few months on hoping insurance has paid.
  12. Chainlink? Blackthorn/Hawthorn planted behind. Worth checking with local council who has legal status to fence.
  13. Update on who makes kilns/retorts at present appreciated?
  14. Chasing around this afternoon between two police forces and the place where vehicle is now stored and the insurance firm. The spare wheels/tyres from the load bed are missing!! Vehicle condition still unknown and think SOC intend to check for DNA.
  15. Forecast here is 30mm of moisture in next 12hrs so that could mean 30cm of snow being 600m above sea level.
  16. In this area of Telemark children leave bicycles beside the school bus stops, forest workers chainsaws/fuel in the wood, vehicles running outside the shops in wintertime, eggs/firewood and farm produce beside main roads to purchase with honest box and houses unlocked with NO problems from thieves at all. Wish that had been the same over last 20 years in Derbyshire. Is it the same in other European countries?
  17. Dusk now with deep snow and going cold. Loads of sunshine here compared to UK and NO THIEVES!!
  18. I had a call this afternoon to inform me the 4x4 Unimog/Truck had been stolen from the site in Matlock area of Derbyshire. Staffordshire Police found it beside the A515 with the engine still running and have recovered to a safe place. Vehicle was waiting to be moved abroad to where we are now. Securities bollards and gates smashed with the vehicle. Time these B******S were removed from the land of the living instead of sending them to prison and wasting monies which could go to the health and education services. Hope some DNA will turn up. Vehicle was marked to help with tracing. No idea on condition until tomorrow.
  19. Talk to local Trading Standards. Worth checking with the firm that supplied the saw which fuel/oil it used to PDI the saw before selling. I would go direct to Stihl. How long had the moto-mix been in the shop before sale? I read somewhere that warranties for professional use are 3 months and leisure use are 12 months.
  20. That's sad news. RIP. Think all teams should have first aid and aerial rescue training. There are special wound/bleeding bandages that might have helped? Is I would be interested to know if there is a Kevlar collar available to use in this trade?
  21. I think the modern saws are made to a price with too much plastic. I started the business with a used A65 and still had that saw until 2016. I wish the 242XPG's were still produced.
  22. Total chaos on all the roads as freezing rain arrived. Police told people to avoid going out unless driving on good studded tyres. Buses, Snow Ploughs...... all crashed in the deep ditches. So cancelled work plans and having an office paperwork/tools maintenance day!!
  23. -21C here this morning. Roads good enough to go "Sparking" (Kicksled)
