    Saw choice

If its anything like the 046/460, then the 461.Monster of a saw.I love my 046, and cant see myself replacing it with newer kit.I have 18",25" and 28" bars for it and see it as my `go to` saw for most occasions.Great power to weight ratio saw which i will use for most tasks with the right bar.
  2. Dont think i could let some scumbags walk away with my chooks.
  3. I`ve given up on watches.I used to break loads.Hate the feeling of all the grots building up under the strap too.I`m not a fan of expensive watches although i`ve had some reasonable quality ones bought for me. I use my phone if i need to know the time, without continually looking as i would with a watch. It lives in an otterbox for protection and i can clip it anywhere.
  4. I`ll have a look cheers.
  5. Cheers for the replies.I`ll have a poke around in the shed and see if i can adapt anything.
  6. Borrowed the above off a mate for the day and as chance would have it the recoil starter stopped working. It just pulls out without engaging. What it is,is the return springs on a couple of metal pawls attached to the flywheel. Both shot. A trawl of ebay, online spares etc revealed nothing.Local dealer is unlikely to have them. However they`re just light springs so anything similar should fit. Anyone have a similar problem and sourced a couple of similar springs? I dont like borrowing tools and giving them back defective, so i`d be greatfull for some suggestions. Cheers chaps.
  7. When i did mine i just had to bore through a log laying on the ground, then withdraw the bar back out.A cut in tension, a cut in compression, and cut up some logs, rolling, etc.
  8. Didnt they want money for it last time.
  9. I`d price for a big excavator for a start, and think about digging some drainage .Sounds like a potentially miserable job.
  10. ^^^This^^^^ When you`ve got the kit you can at least practice on a few rec. climbs.A tv is just something to sit in front of not learning anything.
  11. Have masking/gaffa tape in the truck for just such an occasion.
  12. No disrespect mate, but if you were my oppo i would be devastated to know that you had died/were seriously injured while working together.I would have to have effective working systems in place for mutual safety. Its dangerous for sure, but i keep an eye on people working with me and investigate if i cant see them.
  13. I often work alone, but i always wear my ppe, and keep my phone and first aid kit to hand.I also let somone know where i`m working. Not ideal but needs must sometimes. I also do a mini risk assesment.Location with grid reference, accesses, etc.If i need to call it in i know it will be sorted.
  14. I`ve got a defender for my galaxy s3, which is a fragile phone.I`m clumsy acomplished killer of phones, and its survived no problem, several drops on concrete. It a four piece system, which is splashproof, but wouldnt survive imersion, however the belt clip carrier keeps it well out of the way. Be carefull where you buy as theres a lot of fakes about.I paid about forty quid with it in realtree blaze. Some of the cheap deals on ebay etc are likely to be fakes.
  15. 6" or thereabouts.Untill a got a silky, i didnt realise how usefull they are.I try and use mine as much as possible.I say 6", but if i thought i could save myself the hassle of pulling up a chainsaw, i`d have a go at most things.
  16. Keep your tubes clear is the best advice i can give.
  17. Yeah, not what i`d want near my house.Cant see the attraction in them unless you want a thick fast growing hedge that you plan to keep under control. Looks like a tatty guardsmans bearskin. The old boy next door had an out of contol connie, complete with burst plant pot around the base.It interfered with our sky dish.He had it trimmed a few times, but my mrs mentioned that he was around it with a bow saw one day.Quick as a flash i went round and had it away.Even ringed up some logs for him.Free of charge, as i dont think he could aford to have it done. Suited me so no probs.
  18. Hire a cut off machine with a big cutting wheel in it maybe.
  19. Its a difficult one as its family, and you want to do the right thing.I dont know how big your company is, but i cant see how you can include projected earnings in a settlement and pay a wage to someone who doesnt work for the benefit of your firm indefinately. If it was me, i`d look at equipment value and any short term projected earnings that have been booked in as it stands.Find a fifty fifty figure and offer that. Life insurance should really cover sad and unexpected loss of a breadwinner. Hope you sort it out, but you need proffessional advice.
  20. I use a tree austria.fits this 36" waist fatboy like a glove.I can wear it comfortably for as long as i want.Good support, and positioning.
  21. I find the steins comfortable enough, but i`ve not tried much else.Velro top and buckle bottoms.
  22. Storm kettles? are they like kelly kettles? if so great.I like the rustic feel and i could do with some spares.

    Cramp..!!!

Your electrolyte levels need to be replenished. As well as keeping your hydration in check a sports type drink as well through the day should sort it. Tonic water, which contains quinine, takes away the effects pretty well.
  24. I think a lot of your problem stems from`shared driveway`.I`m presuming its shared with this chap complaining. They cause no end of hassle, and personally i avoid them like the plague, however, as an outsider looking in, he will see you using the drive for work related activity.A bit of sawdust, woodchip, even if you are being particular with cleanliness, he will see you getting more from the shared driveway than he is. That annoys some people, particularly i they just drive up it and park a car. I store all my kit in my garage simply because i dont want it nicked.I have cut logs on my drive before but try and avoid running saws often.I do split logs with a maul for my own use though.I dont consider any of what i do operating a business from home, although my neighbours are aware of what i get up to.I`ve done small jobs for a couple of them and not charged anything, and i sometimes give a few boxes of eggs out to keep them sweet.
